Have you tried melatonin? Loves truck stop sells melatonin gummies, they are in the medicine section. That shit knocks me out and unlike sleeping pills or the nighttime NyQuil shit I don't feel groggy and out of it when I wake up. Idk I eventually got to the point where I just cover my head with a pillow and even if I'm not tired it takes 30 minutes for me to fall asleep and I'm out for 6 hours easily. I guess I'm lucky.

Valerian root is also good for sleep, melatonin makes me feel a bit loopy and have weird dreams, but the valerian just has a sedating calming effect for a few hours after taking

Melatonin is a good tool to have around. The key is not to use it too much. You build up a resistance to it over time and have to take more and more for the same effect. I use it from time to time but work hard not to make it a habit or become resistant.

I can fall asleep fine just can't stay asleep longer than 5-6 hours. I think the army just has me messed up. Used to barely any sleep and having to be up and early to everything. My body just seems programed to sleep no longer than 6 hours. I don't even need an alarm clock I can wake up at the exact time I expect to.

If Im not in a hurry to deliver my load, then Ill sleep a full 8hrs. But if Im doing the strict 10hrs and I'm ready to roll then maybe 6 or less hrs

I average about 6 hours of good sleep. After that it’s either I wake up to piss or start tossing and turning from aches and pains. Getting old isn’t fun.

Usually around 7. I try and work 6:30am - 6:30pm. I aim to be in Bed relaxing by 10pm and asleep by 11pm.

I alway get 8 hours of sleep, even if that means i am taking a 12 to 13 hour break. Just tell your dispatcher you have a loud reefer or sonething next to you. Never drive when your tired, uts just asking for problems.

I always found the sound and vibration of the idling engine to be very soothing and could sleep like a baby. It drowns out background noise. I’d imagine newer APU setups would ruin that effect.

I've never kept very close track of it, but a few times I've done the math and realized I only got around six hours of sleep. The thing is, I still felt fully rested. That's the key. It doesn't really matter how many hours you stay asleep. The idea that everyone needs exactly eight hours is a myth. As long as you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start your shift, you're fine. If you can't seem to get a refreshing sleep, then you have a problem. Talk to your doctor.

6-8. Depends on the schedule I’m on. I sleep best when I have a good 3-4 day load and worst on the shorter ones. Occasionally I’ll have 4-5 hours on weird days between delivering one load and getting the next if the appointments are close together. This job isn’t really conducive to a solid schedule so being able to fall asleep and stay asleep is something you just have to get used to as the times you go to sleep can be different day to day which is what the body struggles with when determining when you wake.
