VinFast is a gross company, sics Vietnamese police on any domestic auto journalists who breathe a word of mild criticism. Criticism which they deserve for their offerings so far. The performance has been dire. I don't think anyone really buys these in the US except out of national pride or just poor awareness of the options.
If Vinfast doesn't survive the US market, it's because of the high intensity of racism as reflected by those who subscribe to the same mindset that is controlling you now.
If Vinfast doesn't survive the US market, it is because their cars are objectively non-competitive, and their approach to it is not bettering their product but suppressing criticism. It has nothing to do with country of origin. They simply do not make good enough cars at the asking price, cope about it.

In fact, during my VinEducation I was lucky enough to experience multiple VinFast vehicles, which offer [insert advertising copy here] and I now understand that the VinFast is the future of the automobile.

China actually does, they censor citizens who talk about BYD battery fires. That said Chinese manufacturing capabilities are just better and so they turn out more competitive stuff to begin with and the problem of fires isn't really that big of a problem for competent EVs.
The reason we block Chinese cars is the opposite problem lol, they'd eat our domestic EVs for lunch. Europe and Australia have Chinese cars and especially in Australia where shipping is a short hop, BYD and other Chinese EVs are everywhere. Whether that's because unfair subsidies or taxes or ppp or some other reason/combination of both is a discussion more appropriate for a policy forum, but it's undeniable that they're really clawing at some key markets.
Wish we had them in the US if only to give our traditional automakers a bit of a kick in the pants to get affordable and take EVs seriously.

There's absolutely nothing bad that could happen if a manufacturer who doesn't have a goddamn clue about chassis tuning makes a pickup.

I used to be confused by the Brits' ability to produce something like the Elan or Europa at the same time as a Spitfire or GT6 but then I thought about their aircraft in WWII- they had the Tempest, but they also had the Fairey Swordfish.
The key with any swing axle is to limit wheel travel in droop to reduce jacking. The key to every second British engineering decision is to ignore the first.
How discouraging must it be to work for Vinfast marketing/PR and be monitoring threads like this. Just watching your company get dunked on over and over, knowing deep down that the commenters are right.
They integrated their Canadian sales arm with their American one, but they're still selling cars in Canada. I am curious if/how much longer they'll survive in North America though, yeah.
It's as wide as a full-size, but as long as a mid-size. I suspect they wanted it to fit easier in a garage.
Gross weight-wise, it's in the 3/4 ton class, but EVs are naturally heavier.

Smart, if so. That's one of the reasons I prefer mid-size to full-size trucks. A Tacoma barely fits in my garage length-wise, with just enough room to spare wall-to-door to squeeze around behind it.
I see some things I like (like the fold down rear seats to extend the bed), some things I don't (like the ugly rear end), and some things I just utterly hate (like the fact that it's a VinFast)...
Ford has some new-ish patents for that sort of thing that prove it's possible, but I just don't see enough upsides to make it worth the downsides... Trying to get out of full-length reverse-opening doors in a tight parking lot is only going to be marginally less unpleasant than trying to get out of the back seat of a two-door.
