Cheapest flights to Hawaii

My friends are I are planning a budget trip to Hawaii but were a little discouraged by the prices. We live on the east coast so the prices for a round trip are coming to around 800-900 dollars. Does anyone know any cheap flights or methods to find cheaper flights?

To speak directly with Frontier Airlines, call their customer service number at 𝟙(𝟠𝟞𝟞) 𝟠𝟛𝟚 𝟝𝕆𝟜𝟙 for booking, changes, or upgrades. I’ve found phone support at 𝟙(𝟠𝟞𝟞) 𝟙(𝟠𝟞𝟞) 𝟠𝟛𝟚 𝟝𝕆𝟜𝟙 works faster than waiting online. Book your round-trip flight to Hawaii today!

Thankyou mate for the info!

The biggest cost with Hawaii is not the flight but everything else once you get there. Please look at the cost of accommodations and food before you worry about the flight.

I mean I did a month there for 700 bucks total including flight. Helps to be attractive and good at making friends to stay at chicks houses. Also sleeping on beaches and taking beach showers works great

lol ur a real beach bum 😂

unfortunately even if you buy it in advance the cheapest i have seen from the east coast is around 750-800 . there is nothing budget about hawaii at all. you may be able to fly to Europe for cheaper actually
IvantheCzech@reddit
Europe is definitely cheaper I've personally booked $400-600 flights multiple times from the east Coast
Tuilleri@reddit
How tho
IvantheCzech@reddit
Google Flights, with flexible dates. You can use the explore function to see different airports if you are flexible in location as well. For example, here's a flight from NYC to Barcelona for 2 weeks, $387 RT. Took less than 30 seconds to find and there are similar fares for most big east coast airports.

Obviously, once you're in Europe, you can take a budget carrier to your final destination if you want to save even more money.
roynewseditor@reddit
there one from San Diego Right now at 216
idgafbouturfeelings@reddit
They live on the east coast
Agile-Technician-748@reddit
Sometimes it is cheaper to book one way to another city than RT from yours. I live on the East Coast and routinely book one way flights to New York or DC to fly to Europe. Why? Because I'll have 200+ flying out of those cities.
Right now RT from my city to Paris looks to be about 1600 for some dates I wanna go, however, I can fly into New York for 190 (250 RT) and fly to Paris for 900 from New York for those same dates.

I want to go to Hawaii , what state should I go to to save money ?
Consistent_Freedom23@reddit
Could try looking at flights through the hopper app! I would definitely though make sure you budget for when your actually there. Everything on the islands is expensive. I did a budget trip with my sister and we literally stayed in hostels. Still ended up spending way more money then we planned because of food costs and wanting to do excursions. If your eating out for every meal and plan on doing things I would budget about $200/day
Tuilleri@reddit
How you find hostels tho
viccityguy2k@reddit
Search WestJet airlines from wherever you are to Calgary or Vancouver - then search from Calgary or Vancouver to HNL
Tuilleri@reddit
How much would you pay all together
Sufficient-Berry-589@reddit
From the east coast it’s a 10-12hr flight… you’re not going to find it for a few hundred dollars. It’s also not a cheap destination.
Tuilleri@reddit
So where should one fly from so it’s cheap
Maximum-End-7629@reddit
Sign up for Going. It’s free and they send cheap flight notifications. I’ve flown to/from Washington DC to Hawaii for $350 and Austin to Hawaii for $315. And I stayed at hostels in Waikiki and Kona. It can be done on a budget!
Maximum-End-7629@reddit
Also I rented a bike and used the public bus to get around in both places. It wasn’t honeymoon luxury but it was amazing. I made friends at the hostel with some folks who rented a car through turo to explore the harder to reach areas.

Kayak has some for around $600 but you would have to fly later on in the year like October/September
Express-Priority-685@reddit
How far out are you planning? Prices of airfare are reasonable between 4-5 months before your intended trip. Look at the prices of airfare on a Tuesday. We just did this last week, and we saved $40 per ticket.
Smilesarefree444@reddit
Hawaii is not cheap. If you can get to OAK in CA we have cheaper flights out here. We used to go in Feb around $200PP and stay with a friend, but one year we went to a new island on our own (Oahu) and it was crazy expensive. Then we went to Kauai and it was crazy expensive. You would need around 2k for the trip not including flight PP imo.

Fly from Mexico
Opening-Bottle990@reddit
I have the SkyScanner app and they show different prices among different airlines + website on a given date between given cities.
With that being said, ive just been to Hawaii for the first time in December and we flew from the east coast. We took a RT from our city to LAX then another RT from LAX to Maui. That all came out to around $465 altogether. I’ve seen good roundtrip prices of getting from the east coast to LAX at $250 even cheaper for the spring time this year. And from LAX to any Hawaiian island is usually $200 or cheaper.
(I went to LA Sunday. Flew to Maui from LAX Monday came back Thursday evening and then left LA Friday night)
Excellent-Pitch-7579@reddit
Have you checked out Southwest Airlines?
Freshies00@reddit
As someone who lives in Hawaii and flies to the east coast, realistic best price available is about 600 round trip. I book 1-ways because you don’t really get savings booking round trip as a bundle, and this allows you to search multiple carriers for the best price in each direction.
Have to ask though….budget trip to Hawaii? If an extra couple hundred dollars on a flight here is problematic for you… what are your plans for all of the other costs involved with traveling here? If you’re thinking camping out on the beach or anything like that I’d just make sure you understand that it’s not legal. Tons of people try to come here thinking they can experience Hawaii on the cheap because of their thrifty ideas but it won’t really work. Everything is expensive here and you can’t do even a short trip to Hawaii for less than a few thousand per person at the very very least unless you know someone to stay with who has a car.
Odd__Detective@reddit
We used to live on Oahu and a white guy was murdered on the beach by a native. The natives are actually not too keen on white people moving into their land and taking over their country. This is also true for homeless natives.

What a weird ass thing to say. This isn't live action King Kong or some shit lmao

There are many legitimate campsites you can stay at on Kauai. I did an amazing camping holiday there. Polihale, kalalau trail, etc

Hawaii in August was $1000 each from CT to Oahu $3700 11 days hotel We ate at ABC stores because there is nothing BUDGET once you get there food for 2 people at every restaurant was 75-100 pp
Quincy-Swirls@reddit
Hawaii is not cheap it’s the most expensive state in the US. I suggest going somewhere else if you’re on a budget.
WanderingGirl5@reddit
As far as camping, there are various sites at some beaches but remember you need really good waterproof gear.. It can rain every day and sometimes for days. Roosters will wake you up every morning at dawn, almost everyday. All food is expensive, even in the grocery stores. Most hotels are over $200/night at least. Nothing cheap about Hawaii.
ThinkWeather@reddit
It’s like $500 to fly to Asia round trip.
quintessentialbonobo@reddit
what is air force one or air force two? a boeing 747
NotUUNoU@reddit
It’s getting a bit ridiculous that this question for this destination seems to be getting asked am every other day.
nattyleilani@reddit
I’m currently planning my April trip to Hawaii. Between flights and lodging, we’re up to about $5,000. That’s with air bnb instead of resorts (which is actually cheaper even with their taxes and cleaning fees). All rentals in Hawaii (including hotels) charge a nearly 18% tax. Plus there’s a rental car, food, gas at $5 a gallon, and entrance fees for most places. You cannot go to Hawaii on a shoestring. It’s simply not feasible.
Economy-Diver-5089@reddit
Budget friendly and Hawaii don’t go together. Especially with flights from the East Coast. I live in NC now but lived on Oahu for 5 years prior. If a few hundred dollars on a flight is an issue, then you’ll run into the same problem while on island. The hotels are expensive. And you can take the bus to get around, but it’ll eat into your time a lot l, it’s easier to rent a care.
I’d save Hawaii for when it’s not a shoestring budget
Goattime22@reddit
I would buy a ticket from LAX to Hawaii for cheap, then book a one night hotel for the day before and then book an east coast to LAX flight for that day before. You should save around 2 to 3 hundred per person. You have to be flexible with the dates....
Keep in mind Hawaii hotels are super pricey so if the flight is a cost problem you might want to visit somewhere else cheaper like Costa Rica.
mfact50@reddit
Yup specifically southwest may be worth a look from LAX - their tickets aren't always cheap but can be.
But more importantly go somewhere else if cost is a biggie.
Freshies00@reddit
That makes zero sense
dawhim1@reddit
There are a lot of flights flying from the west coast to honolulu. There are a lot of flights flying from east coast to west coast. there are not many flights flying from east coast to hawaii.
The more flights there are, they better chance you can score discounted tickets.
Broke_n_Brooklyn@reddit
I have lots of friends who go back and forth between NYC and Hawaii. Like 50.
Most fly first to either LA or San Fran and then get a cheaper flight to Hawaii.
We all have mutual friends in LA and San Fran so no hotel costs
Also most are almost certainly using points or miles to maximize them.

Expedia is what I use to find cheap flights, but I’m guessing it’s the airline also. Plus depending on what island you’re staying also .
SalamancaVice@reddit
Google Flights, Skyscanner.
Book directly with the airline, not via third party.
