This is shockingly sad. I worked on Mythbusters for two years as an editor, not long after he started with Kari and Tori as the “build team”. Grant was one of the most intelligent, hard working people I’ve come across. The way he approached problem solving always blew me away and his engineering skills were off the charts. Great presenter too. I’m stunned.

I’m sure this will get lost in a sea of comments, but thought I’d add my favourite Grant moment from my time on the show. When Adam and Jamie were trying to replicate Tesla’s earthquake machine, they became stuck so Grant came in with and already made electromechanical linear actuator. Pretty sure we couldn’t say in the episode why Grant had this machine, but it turned out he had been commission to make it by a company in the “adult entertainment” industry. The look on his face when he had to confess the machines origins to Adam was priceless. In the end the machine did a pretty good job creating a vibration on the Carquinez Bridge bit I still shudder to think what it would have done when used for its intended purpose.

Rest easy Grant, you’ll be missed.
