Hi I'm going to be joining the dentures club soon and I would like some emotional support.

I know how you feel. My mom took me to the dentist about four times total when I was growing up. I had a cavity in one of my front teeth, basically a dark spot, and kids would make fun of me for it. I knew I needed braces from the time I was twelve because I had a huge overbite and gaps in my teeth, but my mom never took me to the orthodontist, either. I never smiled because I was really self conscious about the way my teeth looked. As an adult, I took really good care of my teeth. I got low cost dental insurance and paid to fix a lot of issues myself. I even got braces, much to my husband's chagrin. They were only $100 a month, which I felt was worth it. His parents paid for his braces as a kid, so I don't think he really understood what I went through. But then I got depressed and kind of neglected my teeth. I need to have one of my molars pulled, but I've been putting it off, a) because it's supposed to cost like $400 with a bone graft. I don't know how much the implant is going to cost, but I just really don't want to have a gap/missing tooth, so I really empathize with you. If they would give me a denture to put back there, like a bridge, I'd definitely wear it. Coincidentally, my mom was really young when she began to wear dentures, and I often wonder if that's why she never took me to the dentist. I think that's what inspired me to take care of my teeth.
