Why do people not know how to use slip roads!?

I’ve recently moved so my morning commute now comprises of motorway driving, more specifically joining the M60 from the M61 which comes to a complete standstill most of the time.
What I really can’t fathom is why people don’t continue driving down the slip road and come to a complete stop on at the earliest opportunity if they can’t merge, JUST KEEP DRIVING.
Surely this is the main cause of traffic, which is avoidable. Does anyone have a reason for this or is it just bad driving?
Edit: I’m not talking about forcing your way onto the motorway - I’m referring to people who stop right at the beginning of the slip road

Slightly off topic but someone's teaching drivers to indicate RIGHT when intending to go straight on at roundabouts. It's so frustrating.
STOP IT!

Had a driving lesson yesterday where we talked in depth about roundabouts. He told me this: only indicate left if you're taking the first exit AND that first exit is before the 12 o'clock position, with you at the 6 o'clock position as you approach the roundabout. Otherwise, give no signal if your exit is before or at the 12 o'clock position. If it's past the 12 o'clock position, indicate right and use the right hand lane.
Never heard of indicating right to go straight on, though.

I was always taught you indicate right if you exit is beyond either straight over of exit 2. For all exits, indicate left once you pass the exit proceeding the one you actually want to depart the roundabout on.
What your instructor has said doesn't sound right to me.

People are awful at motorway driving in general I find.
People not accelerating to anywhere near the limit on slip roads. Lane hogging. People that just fucking randomly change lanes for no discernible reason. People that can't maintain a stable speed. People driving 65 mph, then you go to overtake and they speed up only to slow down again when you pull back behind them. People that change lanes far too early for overtakes then try and take about 5 minutes to complete the overtake. People not using indicators. People that pull into gaps that are for safety, not invitations for them to pull out in front of you. People tailgating.
You'll see all of these several times and more I'm probably forgetting anytime you spend more than 30 mins on the motorway. I just wish we'd make driving tests much much harder.
I forgot when you see 4 or 5 cars in the space there should be 2.

Another one that drives me nuts - people who stop on a hard shoulder and when they want to rejoin the main carriageway just rejoin lane 1 from a stationary start like they were pulling out of parking space on the high street. They didn't get the memo that you're supposed to build up speed on the hard shoulder first before you rejoin the carriageway if there's no obstruction on the hard shoulder itself.

Another thing I don’t think anyone has mentioned is when people pull out into lane 2 needlessly when there is an exit slip road. Very annoying if they’re going slower than the lane 2 traffic. People don’t seem to know the difference between this and when lane 1 is specifically for the exit.
