True I’m from Dearborn MI so they sell all types of Mediterranean foods. Like 80% of restaurants and bakeries are all Arab owned

Iranians had a highly advanced culture when W*stoids were still hanging from trees and living in caves. Literally the cradle of human civilization.

That's how an Iranian would want to see it; but, the Achaemenid Empire only lasted for \~200 years. It was replaced by the Roman Empire in \~330 BC. Today, I see lay people trying to "adjust" those dates to the first time nomoadic Persis entered, 500 years before, but those nomads didn't establish a government.

And the disdain for the "rest of the world living in caves and swinging from trees" is just a straight up fiction. The entire Greek Empire (if you could call it that) was 500 years before the Achaemenid Empire. The Egyptian Empire was about 2600 years before the Achaemenid Empire. The Minoan Empire was 2800 years before the Achaemenid Empire. Mesopotamia was 3700 years before the Achaemenid Empire.

Heck Archeology wasn't even popular until about 200 years ago. Part of the reason Iran stands out so well is because it's environment makes it easy to find preserved artifacts. Early European civilizations used wood as a construction material, as it was cheap and plentiful. To give an example, the Carnac stones of Brittan are clearly dated to \~5000 BC, but the rest of the civilization that must have existed to erect them is mostly unknown (likely due to wood construction). Ancient north Germanic people have a freeze thaw cycle that accelerates wood destruction.

Considering the "swinging from tree" to imply that Europeans are monkeys, I'd say you're showing typical Iranian sentiment, which is what's under that veneer of hospitality.

I honestly have a very high opinion of Iran and its people.

I think it's the best place to visit in Asia besides Japan.

I spent a month there doing a tour and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Definitely an underrated place to visit.

The best way to describe Iranians I think would be as very genuine. Really heartwarming people, I remember I was looking for a hookah bar with a buddy and we asked some guys for directions and they literally drove us there, bought it, and then smoked it with us. I don't think you can see that often anywhere else.

As far as the government is conserned, people forget that the reason why the revolution happened in the first place is because the former Shah orcestrated a coup with the help of the Americans and Brits to overthrow a democratically elected president that wanted to nationalize the oil industry. The Americans started the hostilty towards Iran when the Iranis didn't want to bend over.

Yeah, you'll see that throughout most of the Middle East. Asking to smoke Hooka with someone is a trigger that will make them know you appreciate their culture, and it's not unique to the Persians.

And I see you got the Persian-washed version of the revolution. Basically, there's nothing in Iran that people can't blame on the USA, because their government has been dodging the responsibility of their own mismanagement by invoking the ghost of "foreign influence". There is real foreign influence occasionally, but not even close to the scale Iran is pretending.

The Shah was a puppet installed leader (by the Soviet Union and UK), but as he aged, he started diverging from policies that serviced the West. Then the royal family basically held the party to end all parties, which was so lavish it permanently damaged their economy. This led to unrest, and the CIA (USA) installed students in the universities to promote replacement of the Shah with a democracy. Iran had a revolution, the Shah (now referred to as the Shah's son) left the country. Their first elected leader was a hard right-style strong man, and his first job as President was to dismantle fair process, effectively converting the democracy into the plutocracy Iran is today. Ever since then, the government blames everything from traffic to noise pollution on the USA, and takes credit for anything they can.

Don't get me wrong, the USA is very interested in Iran. When Iran (which is a fundamental religiously driven government, with strong ties to Russia) says it will build nuclear weapons and point them at New York City, the USA must be interested. When the USA applies sanctions (along with the rest of the world) Iran then uses that reaction as proof they were right to make the threats AND the reason they made the threats. Their ability to ignore cause and effect is mostly why they are never seen as good actors on the world stage.

I've only met one Iranian so far, and the experience I had thanks to her was pretty bad.

At the end of the English language course, a group meal was organized. A simple meal. This girl was a headscarfed girl who I thought came from a religious family. Everything started well.

Then the girl's father or brother, maybe just a friend, came and tried to beat her off the table. like really bad

me and friend of mine started to argue with the man try to stop him and the man started swearing at us he insulted our Turkishness and said that we are not worth as much as a dog. The incident got bigger, and turn to arab vs turk fight then my friend punched the man, the man fainted, the police came and it was a very awful night.

I honestly don't like iran at the moment,but i dont want to judge all nation over a man

Yeah, I've see this in these people too. They are only surface level hospitable. Lots of the dismiss anything you think or say, and when you get to know them better, they "correct" you into their way of thinking.
