Is there any discernible difference in the driving experience of a Dodge Charger and Challenger?

Google and asking dodge owners has yielded different answers. Some say yes others say no. Not looking to start a mopar war I just want to know if there’s a drastic difference between the driving experience. I’ve wanted to drive a Hellcat, especially a widebody, for awhile and I’m going to rent one for my birthday this year. I’m biased towards the looks of the challenger widebody and ultimately if I did buy one it’d be the challenger over the charger. However, I’ve got an opportunity to rent a charger hellcat redeye widebody for like 1/2-1/3 of the price. Just trying to see if the driving experience behind the wheel is for me. Or if there’s a better supercharged American V8 option out there. Thanks!

The Charger is more stable when the back end steps out due to the wheelbase. The 392 versions, the Charger is slightly louder and deeper sounding due to the difference in exhaust lengths. I test drove both back to back and it’s noticeable. Not sure if the Hellcat versions are the same because I’ve only driven the Charger version. The obvious answer is CT5 V Blackwing. If you can afford this get it 100% over the Hellcat. I’d take an S550 GT500 over a Challenger any day. Faster, louder, more rare, handles way better, DCT.

CT5 V blackwing is more than I’d want to spend and I think the Camaro looks better anyways. Maybe a Gen 3 CTS-V. GT500 is also something I’d REALLY like to test drive but, I fear there’s still more depreciation to happen on those once the S650 GT500 comes out. Also, reliability I’m not 100% sure on since like you mentioned it’s a rare car and engine. The hellcat V8 and LT4 V8 are in more products and have seen more miles.

Seeing as the Predator 5.2L is based off the Coyote, which is a very reliable engine, it’s likely a reliable engine too.

I’d test drive the ZL1 for sure. The hellcat engine is awesome but the cars themselves leave a lot to be desired and they’re not very “fun” besides the power. I had a Scat Pack Charger and a Camaro SS and preferred the Camaro in absolutely every way beside the exhaust note slightly going to the Charger. Was equally unimpressed with the Hellcat so rented.

Yes. The Charger is heavier and the seating position feels forward and more upright. I'm not sure the H point is actually any higher, but it may be farther forward since you need the rear legroom. Challenger's interior is a tad nicer too, in my opinion, but that's not a make-or-break thing.

Challenger is a little longer, and a little lighter. However you won't notice much difference. However the aerodynamic of the Challenger you do notice, and the fuel economy difference of the Charger versus the Challenger is noticeable. In other words, the Charger is more aerodynamic fo

Fuel economy isn’t my highest priority but, I’ll keep that in mind if I buy one. I’m really looking at this rental as a test drive for the hellcat engine and platform.
