Will there always be Goths?

Strange topic, and in now way intended as a slight or criticism against Goths. I was discussing with a friend the other day about the sub-cultures we remember from our youth. Nobody describes themselves as an “emo”, “mod” or a “mosher” anymore, but goths are very much still alive and well. A quick google research shows that the goth sub-culture has been around since the 70s. So basically, what is it about the Goth sub-culture that gives it such longevity compared to any other? Bonus question for practicing goths: Is the goth lifestyle and aesthetic one that people will commonly stick with? Or like other sub-cultures, do people generally move out of it as they age?
