I love this gun so much. all the people saying they dont like proprietary stuff dont understand this rifle. it's super lightweight. most parts are compatible with the AR15, not AR-10. the only stuff truly proprietary on it is the buffer tube and bolt, and rumor is the bolt is just a 6.8spc bolt.
my rifle, fully kitted, is lighter than some of my friend's 556 rifles. The only modification i had to make to mine was to install a PWS H4 carbine buffer to tame recoil down. I also had to replace the bolt catch with a milspec AR-15 one to allow Larue mags to work. Great rifle.
Same here. This seems like the dream, AR-10 in an AR-15 sized package. I've been sitting on some funds for a 9mm PCC for awhile and this .308has me wondering if I should go a different direction.
Some suck. But Rugers Customer Service is good. I paid 2200$ for the POF Revolution which is pretty neat. But had this been out back then I think for the price I would have bought it. Even if it needed to be sent back for repairs

The reviews I've seen make it sound like they're very hit or miss. You could get lucky and get a reliable 1MOA rifle. Or you could get a finicky 4MOA one.
I bought one in October 2022. Accuracy was okay but I had rounds get stuck in the chamber. Not hard to remove and I thought it was just the ammo at the time until I heard other have issues as well. My extractor worked fine but I could easily lift it with my finger nail. Ruger sent me a replacement by mail. It just took them 6-8 weeks.
The worst issue I had was lots of failure to feed/extract during the 3rd month. I found the gas block was loose and I just used green locktite this time.
In concept, it's a great rifle. Light weight, decent stock trigger, with an adjustable gas block but the Q/C could have been better. I ended up trading it in.
There is a lot of reviews out already. The general consensus seems to be that the first run of these have been somewhat inconsistent. Some people have been getting rifles that are very accurate and reliable while others have been having issues.
I haven't had to use it for my other Ruger items but I've always heard that Ruger's customer service is great and will take good care of you.
If you're talking about the SFAR, I'm assuming you're asking about 16" vs 20".
It just kinda depends on what you're looking for. The 16" is going to be lighter and more maneuverable. The 20" will give you more velocity (about 100 fps) and move the blast/noise another 4" away from your face.
The 20" has the gas port at the end of the forend, the 16" has a little cutout so you can access it from the side. Ballistically there are a lot of opinions, and weight wise its a few oz lighter
18vs20 is much smaller of a difference than 16vs20 with 308
I have a 16” m5e1 and doubling up is mandatory for me even if I use a flash hider on it. The 18 and 20s I’ve been around have been much more bearable with much less flash and noise, which makes sense given 308 takes 18 inches to fully combust
I’d do 16 if suppressing it, 20 if not
I'm sure they will come out with a SFAR in 6.5 CM at some point but for now, I much prefer 308 because of the cost of ammo. I have bolt action rifles in 6.5 CM but ammo cost makes much more of a difference when you're talking about a semi-auto
