People that have driven drunk, was it that hard? Genuinely curious

I'm sitting here a tad tipsy, looking at lessons to book; purely, the thought just came to mind.
Did you get pulled over? Crash?
So many questions...

tbh it is extremely easy for me i drive drunk all the time and i believe this is only the way my brain thinks so when im sober i actually drive worse because i dont pay attention as much because driving just comes very naturally to me so i can just sit there and watch youtube sober and drive like anyone else and never get pulled over but when im drunk i fear cops just pulling me over for some bullsht so i go the exact speed limit and highly pay attention but it may be also linked to iq and reaction time considering my iq is 145 and reaction time has always been spider like im extremely good at sports such as ping pong, tennis, baseball ect. and quick thinking shooter games

some people definitely can drive high or drunk better than others it still is a risk, that being said youve convinced me to try passing my drivers test while being a little high

also forgot to add yeah when im sober im flying about 30mph over at all times if im not watching yt. Driving is boring in traffic and my favorite thing in the world when i can speed.

also i have crashed 2 times in my life both while sober and about 4 or 5 bumps like mailbox, fence stupid stuff and all while sober aswell never crashed drunk or high at all

Most people haven't ever crashed a car. And you think you can drive drunk?

Tbh I did it when I was younger and no it wasn’t hard at all. Each time I was pretty fucked up. I don’t do it now cuz I got a high paying career and too much to lose but the answer is no atleast not in my experience. Still will never attempt it again tho

Not hard to drive drunk to be honest

Don’t ever do it. Its stupid and can cost your reputation, seeing your family again, or mental health. Just stay home instead of going out to any bar and drink responsibly without driving.

I’ve driven drunk on private logging roads on my property, just to understand the effects. It’s odd how quickly overconfidence can lead to small errors that can combine quickly into a dangerous situation. Too much speed going into a curve, so you focus too much on speed control that you lose sight of the road.
I highly recommend avoiding driving after more than one drink.

I did once as part of a study at university. It was on a disused airfield in a car with dual controls and a (sober) driving instructor in the passenger seat.
The drunker I got, the harder it was to drive in anything approaching a straight line, I hit a lot of cones, and even managed to miss the runway and drive onto the grass. It also seriously affected how quickly I thought the car would come to a stop - I never managed to do the emergency stop within the required distance, and once I didn't even notice the instructor giving me the signal to stop. For some reason, it was also hard to judge when it was time to change gear, at one point I was doing 40 mph in first gear and didn't even notice the screaming noise until the instructor mentioned it.

Driving a manual would be really hard. Ive done it in automatic before. In a country where nobody gives af of course.

I wasn’t drunk but I was buzzed and it’s not fun. It was hard to stay centered in your lane and you also get super tired especially from driving it’s almost hard to stay awake. 0/10 do not recommend

If you're a light weight loser then absolutely. However if you're an experienced roadie sodie man then it's like breathing air baby

I’ve driven after many drinks- but I was completely fine. I was aware of my surroundings. I wouldn’t get behind the wheel if I wasn’t fully capable.

Late reply, I’ve driven drunk or stoned 2-3 times a week for almost a year. I don’t look back on it proudly, but it was amazing for me. When drunk you drive more confident, when high you are more one. And with both you feel euphoric. This was on a dirtbike though, and on calm roads or in forests, but it wasn’t hard at all. I’ve only went down thrice, once in a forest with a calm landing, into a fence with a sorta calm landing and the moment that stopped it for me was a near death experience when sliding onto concrete with 45mph with only a helmet coming out unscathed and the concrete totally ruined. After that I’ve never driven drunk.

Damn. I didn’t even know I made this post thanks for reminding me, two years ago! Damn time flies. And yeah I could imagine the struggles throughout it all. I look bag at the original post and it kinda sounds like I’m curious to do it but never would. I’ve ridden a scooter drunk from one of those rental things in London and fuck me it was absolutely dreadful felt like I was blowing like the wind but when it came to it my thought process was just miles behind to what I was doing what was 20 mph (speeds might be wrong just an example) would feel like I was just jogging along until you need to break and then you’re fucked. Hope you’re doing alright now I think if I was on private land maybe I’d give it a try sometime.
