What do you think about Evri? (formerly Hermes)

Rebranded to abandon its reputation, and yet they're still terrible. This question is prompted by an [investigation by Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12895087/Want-know-Christmas-parcels-arrive-late-soggy-undercover-UKs-worst-courier-firm.html) (yeah, I know - just watch the video)
I tracked one of my parcels and it sat in a private residence for 3 days. Otherwise, it's late, damaged or missing. I even had one delivered at 5am. Is there a magical way to say "I don't want you to come anywhere near my stuff", or do I simply have no choice & it's down to the sender?
