What do you think about Evri? (formerly Hermes)

Rebranded to abandon its reputation, and yet they're still terrible. This question is prompted by an [investigation by Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12895087/Want-know-Christmas-parcels-arrive-late-soggy-undercover-UKs-worst-courier-firm.html) (yeah, I know - just watch the video) I tracked one of my parcels and it sat in a private residence for 3 days. Otherwise, it's late, damaged or missing. I even had one delivered at 5am. Is there a magical way to say "I don't want you to come anywhere near my stuff", or do I simply have no choice & it's down to the sender?

Got a good depot in my area. Never had issues with them. I have more issues with Yodel and Royal Mail. They're not terrible, but there have been late deliveries, non genuine attempted delivery cards and bad tracking information.

I think they're an appalling company with dodgy business practices that shouldn't be a thing in our day and age. HOWEVER... we do know our local Evri delivery people, so there's also a community aspect to it. We gave the guy a £10 tip, for example. He and another woman seem to be making it work despite the crap pay and impossible schedules, although I imagine it's stressful.

Never had an issue with them. We always have the same delivery guy, can’t rate him highly enough. Added bonus is he often has his golden retriever in his van, which makes my golden very happy.

I have never had any issues at all with Evri/Hermes. Our local Evri man is great, I know as soon as I get n email saying the parcel is out for delivery he will be here within half an hour.

It seems to be hugely variable but likewise never an issue for us with either. Hermes used to be a lady who would deliver and - if folk weren't in - spin back later to try again. Evri parcel came recently, dude was on time, smiling, wishing a merry Christmas and right back to it in seconds. He was like a tutorial for how to get it done. When those "How was your delivery?" Surveys come in you can bet your bottom dollar I'm spamming the five star/happy face buttons.

Same here. We have known our local guy for five years, he knows us by name, we know about each other’s family, same as our postie really.

That's great. I'm \~3 minutes from an Evri distribution centre and I wish that this was how efficiently I get my parcels. I also think Evri's structure means that its down to each driver to be their public image - my driver probably doesn't care x

They're rubbish. But then, most delivery companies seem to be. Recent experience with Evri was them leaving a parcel in a 'safe place'. We just got a notification with a picture of our parcel on the floor somewhere. Nothing in the picture to indicate where exactly and no further information. We hunted fruitlessly around the estate for about 15 minutes and then gave up. Ended up having to request a re-delivery. Someone somewhere around here presumably found that parcel on the floor but god knows where.

Royal Mail were amazing in my area until about a year ago. Used to deliver between 11-12 every day without fail. DPD are still the best, they provide a 1 hour window and never stray from it.

The local guy we used to have was really good. The ones that have replaced him are 'okay'. Their organisation overall - not so good. Last used them a few weeks ago when, they repeatedly lied about trying to collect a parcel

My local Evri driver is great it's DPD I have awful problems with. Once you no longer have a regular for your area, that's when it goes to pot. DPD has even delivered my item to a parcel shop in the next town rather than bother driving to my house.

I tried to avoid Hermes, would never use them and actually looked to see what courier co was used where I could find it. Now they are Evri, and the last few drops have been fine.

I used to work for a retailer that used Evri and compared to some couriers we had to deal with, their customer service wasn't too bad in that you would actually get a vaguely useful answer from them most of the time. It was very worrying the number of times that they delivered parcels into bins though!

I think we are lucky with our Evri lady - no real issues. It’s Yodel that seems to reliably be crap here. They seem to have lost a Christmas gift for my daughter (according to their tracker it’s not even ready for delivery but the seller posted it last week). So it seems very dependent on individual employees.

When I have a parcel, it is always delayed and they never even knock, just leave the parcel on the doorstep. This is unfortunately common for me as one of the only places that does my size clothes insists on evri and its a bigger company so unlikely to change.

Shite, but not anywhere near as bad as Yodel. You’ve got about chance of your package reaching its intended destination using Yodel as you have simply throwing it out your front door and hoping the wind takes it to where it needs to go.

I don't mind Evri - if its my usual delivery woman. She is really good. But if she is off and someone else takes her route, it all goes down the swanny and I'm left trying to find my stuff or re-arranging deliveries. Next time I see "my" delivery person, I'm going to ask her for her holiday schedule so I don't order/get deliveries while she isn't around, heh!
