ULPT: if you’re stuck on an annoying call, put your phone on airplane mode instead of just hanging up. The other person will see “call failed” instead of “call ended”

You can also leave your phone on airplane mode so no one can ever call you

My 91 year old grandma needed help changing the light bulb in her basement so I happily volunteered to help. Obviously it was dark in the basement so I used the flashlight on my phone. My grandma was impressed so I showed her how to use the flashlight on her phone. I noticed that her phone was on do not disturb. I asked her if she had missed calls or text messages recently and she said yes but didn’t know why. I showed her how the do not disturb function works and left the function off. She looked at me and said, “Wait! Put that do not disturb thing back on!”

I keep my payroll information up in a spare tab while at work so if I see someone pop in they can’t stay :3

Doesn’t work for me. Don’t know why but I just doesn’t. It doesn’t let me connect to the internet but it keeps me on the call. It may be beacuse I’m on WhatsApp but I’m not sure.

You can also start whispering so that they are straining to hear you. Then, use an air horn. This also works great for unsolicited calls.

Or you could make your phone into an airplane by throwing it really high

Is this still a thing in 2024? Does it still say call failed?

This is true, but the message is very brief on IOS

Just did it on my Samsung, at first I hit the button and it said the phone couldn't be put in airplane mode while in call so I held it down til the menu popped up and then switched it off manually...called immediately dropped.

That is smart and I'm gonna start doing it

You can do the same on your PC if you're voice calling or video calling over the internet. Might come in handy now we're all working from home ;)
windows key + r
type in "cmd" and hit enter
enter ipconfig release
wait for the calling software to stop trying to reconnect, then close it or log out.
enter ipconfig renew
It will look like you disconnected due to connection problems.
