I'm only a few hours older than the bullet hole in Reagan. My mom couldn't watch General Hospital after delivering me, because the TV was flooded with the news.

Carter, but no memories of his time in office. First Pres I remember: Reagan, because once when I was about three or four and watching the Bugs Bunny movie on TV—a big f’in deal back then pre-VCR—he interrupted the flick from the Oval Office, probably to talk about nuking the USSR. Thus began my extreme political displeasure with men of his ilk.

Carter. I remember seeing him come to my home town for reelection. Years later, I won an essay contest to meet President Ford. I don't know how I won that contest.

Reagan. He’d been president for maybe a month 1/2 when I was born. But the first president I actually remember being president was Bush Sr. I remember Reagan as former President Reagan; I was too young to recall his actual presidency.
