If the grid is down will natural gas still work?

I'm sure this is addressed somewhere on the site but apparently my searching skills are lacking. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

No.
Science lesson: How do you think the gas gets to you?
Imagine a gas station for cars. The power is out. You turn the pump on. Does anything come out? No.
Natural gas is pumped to you in a not dissimilar fashion. If the grid that supplies the station is down, and they have no back up power: you have no gas.

Please no more science lessons.

All Natural Gas Pumping Stattion run off of Natural Gas...so as long as there is gas at the well head upstream all the down stream compressors will work without power from the grid. They use natural gas turbines not electricity from the grid except on priming and startup.

It can stay as long as people stay working. Gas companies have large generators and can pump fuel and truck fuel to generators at each pump control station. This is made redundant to supple hospitals fire stations police stations and elderly homes etc.

If power is out locally, your natural gas will still work in the vast majority of cases. If the entire grid is down, I'm not sure...

My gas furnace didn’t work during the big Texas freeze

Gas furnace requires electricity for the control board and fan. My gas stove worked and gas fireplace.

I made a post yesterday about exploring options for back-up heat, but the mods took it down & I don't understand why.

Until the pressure runs out. Which will probably be pretty quickly if the grid goes down

Are those propane radiant heaters 100% indoor safe? I always worry about carbon monoxide.
Drakoneous@reddit
No, there is always a risk of safety features malfunctioning.

Is there a safe way to heat a room in your house if the power goes down for an extended time? Are we all just relying on high end sleeping bags?

Worst case, generator and plug in a few hair dryers…
