First-time solo traveller here, has anyone flown with Sichuan Airlines before?

Looking to book flights to Europe over the coming months, I’ve noticed that sichuan is consistently a budget friendly option. How does sichuan airlines compare to other airlines? Do the flights typically run on time?
I’ve noticed that most of their online presence is in mandarin, I speak and read only a little mandarin. Is it then worth booking through a third-party, like booking.com to cover the finer details for me? I know people advise to book direct in most circumstances
Thank you all for your help, my family do not travel so I appreciate any advice or experiences you have had

Had real problems with Sichuan canceling the first leg of my flight and transferring to the next day. They didn't cancel the second leg which now leaves before the first flight. Have had real problems getting this changed. Would not recommend. Hard work. Couldn't use the phone number as no English option. So email and it's hardworking getting a change done. I don't know if they are playing dumb as they keep telling me what I have told them without addressing the issue. Hoping to sort out but would not go through this again.

yes, i few between hong kong and los angeles with sichuan air. they are more on time than american carriers because unlike US carriers, Chinese carriers fly with more than minimum crew.
just don't expect any fee waivers that american legacy carriers have a reputation for. and if you're not expecting fee waivers, booking through a travel agency is fine - just ever need unexpected airline fee waivers like for missing your flight.

ALWAYS book directly with the airline. There. You've been warned!
