Every December Spotify aggregates your data and gives you a couple minutes long slide show. It tells you how long you listened, what your favorite songs and bands were, etc. This year it told you what city listens to your top music most according to their data. Personally I have location data turned off for most apps, I assume lots of others do too. So I imagine that data is skewed a little? People love to post screenshots of their Spotify wrapped slides on social media, so this year there were lots of preemptive jokes about it. That’s why I called it a meme.

I got Thunder Bay, Canada. My wrapped got heavily skewed toward Jimmy Buffett in September and apparently that was a factor, along with my tendency toward classic rock and hair metal. I know nothing about Thunder Bay but maybe should check it out if things go badly in the next election.

I was stuck in the "Slip is the only good Quicksand record" mentality until I saw them play stuff off Distant Populations live last year. They really matured into their sound.

You’re right. Slip is not the only good Quicksand album. But it is the best Quicksand album. 20 years later and it still sounds fresh and immediate. I haven’t listened to Distant Populations that much out of sheer laziness. I saw them as well last year for the first time in 27 years and they were so fucking tight.
