Facebook Events alternative

Hey,
I'm tired of using FB, but it comes very handy for a bunch of things..one of these is tracking events happening around me of any kind.
I know most events are posted just on FB and anywhere else, but I'd like to opt out from FB for ethical reasons.
What alternative can I use to keep track of events in a powerful yet simple way? I live in Europe, so mostly European based (mainly in my city, of course) events.
Eventbrite and such aren't considered by lots of institutions like museums, universities etc..from which I get lots of interesting events via FB.
Seems a bit impossible, but worth asking :)

It’s a very common frustration, trying to keep up with local events without feeding the social media machine. For ticketed events tickpick is a great utility app, providing an event feed and final pricing upfront

A bit late to the party, but:
regarding meeting with friends, I built my own website called
Partey.io
which allows you to create an event and share a link to it with your friends. There is no need for any type of account, no apps to download and everything is privacy-focused :)
It is already the go-to tool for me and my friends.

This is great, thinking about using it for an upcoming event that I need to plan for around 90 Family/Friends. Out of interest, since it isn't using accounts how does it track who is the host of the event? Is it done by unique IP addresses or something? If so, I guess I'd only be able to manage the event from the specific device I create it from?

Cookies 🙃 just like accounts work normally on other sites, just that creating “an account” is just an id and a name, that’s the gist. I generate a random identifier that is device-bound and saved as a cookie.

FYI just noticed a small typo in the subject of event notification emails “Attention! There are changed for the event…” changes* 😁

Also u/maddis1337, a couple of features I think would be great:
Option for the admin to enable something like "emails required", which would force guests to add their email address when guests RSVP. For big events, I want to make sure my guests are kept up to date and some people will just be lazy and not add their emails 😅
Option for the admin to customise the response button options for guests. Sometimes, I'd simply just want going or not going, some people just always set 'maybe' and never update it
Totally understand why these aren't there now, as you built it mainly for you and your friends :D Just some thoughts. Loving the website so far!

Also, sorry for another message haha, hosting a fairly large event and email notifications for me as the host seemed to break after a bit. People were RSVPing to it, but no emails

Ahh I see. Cool, I guess as long as I advise people to add their emails, they will always have the email link with the cookie to get back onto their “user”

This is amazing! Events was the only thing keeping me on Facebook - can't wait to make an event on it :)

Glad to hear!

This is great! It’s been hard to find anything that doesn’t require downloading an app which I know most of my friends aren’t going to want to do. Thanks!

This is so amazing, thanks! Excited to use this to organize a good party. Finding a useful tool like this online feels a bit like the old web where you didn't have to hand over 10000 pieces of personal data to have something nice...
Maddis1337@reddit
Glad to hear that we share that view
panie_ksiezyc@reddit
yo have you considered open sourcing this? i would like to contribute
Maddis1337@reddit
Not currently, but thanks. I'll take suggestions/feature requests tho :)

You are welcome! Spread the word 😊

This is incredible. I never comment on Reddit threads... but this is exactly what I'm looking for!!!
Would love it if you could customize the RSVP options. Hate giving folks the ability to be non committal during a commitment moment.

Thanks for the kind words and feedback! :)
