Canadian medical

Hey. Went for a class 1 back in beginning of June / late May. Got a letter back at thanksgiving (Oct 11 or something). Submit a p test and letter saying I won’t do canabis 28 days before flying. (Submitted like 2 weeks later to my doctor) whom uploads it to transport Canada online. I waited about 6 months for TC to send that letter, should I expect to Wait another ~6 months for them to review my file? Should I call / email? Some instructors at school said I might be waiting the 6 months before issued a medical… (Everything else passed with flying colours, just sounded like they wanted reassurance that I understand and don’t do cannabis anymore) Passed my P*Star and radio so I’m ready (on paper) to fly solo as a student.. I’ve enjoyed tapping my foot in a dark corner of my house peeking through the blinds waiting for the mail to come everyday.

Send them an email, when I upgraded my Cat 3 to a Cat 1 I didn’t hear anything for 5 months. I sent them an email and later that day I got a response back saying my medical was being shipped out. On my Cat 1 the date of issuance is the day I sent them that email, which makes me think they literally didn’t even look at it for 5 months until I followed up with them and then it was issued.

Definitely shoot them an email. I had been waiting a while for my medical after sending in some supplementary documentation they had requested. It turned out the mail I had sent them never arrived somehow and after resending it I got my medical cert (class 3) within a few weeks. FWIW I also had admitted to cannabis use and that I had quit in prep for starting flight training, which the examiner made a note of but TC didn't mention it at all; Class 1 is probably a lot stricter but I doubt a negative test for cannabis would take months to verify. It is also the holidays, so that could slow things down considerably. In my case the person who signed off on medicals was on summer vacation which added a couple weeks.

6 months for a NORMAL medical is fine - if you have indications of substance use, then it could be another 6 months - who knows.
