I had a cocktail at dinner last Thursday (restaurant) that was fucking delicious. I *raaaarely* drink liquor and sucked down at least 5 glasses of water during dinner, terrified I'd get a hangover. (I want to figure out how to make that shit a mocktail, but what the fuck is "lavender honey water?!") The only time I get drunk is when I visit New York. I go at least once a year and there's always a bottomless brunch and then wandering day drinking (craft beer for me). None of us get blackout and we suck down water and graze snacks along the way. I don't know if it's the walking, snacks, water, or weed that I supplement with but somehow I manage to avoid the crippling hangover. My head may ring a bit in the morning but coffee and water usually nip it quick. I just knocked hard on wood. It's not something I seek out. I live in an unwalkable city, so ubering from place to place is cost prohibited and unfun. (Also, this place just sucks.) Most of my friends live in NY and my HTX friends would rather partake in the leafy greens. Cool with that. 2020 however - yeah, drunk zooms with my friends laid me out frequently.

Never. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had an alcoholic drink. I don’t like the sensation of being drunk. If I do have a drink, I’ll have a single cocktail if I out having a nice dinner. I lived in the UK for 10 years and the drinking culture was one of the reasons I was happy to leave. It was fun when I was in my 20’s, but the older I got, the more tiresome I found it.

Eh. To each their own. Its like the brigade comes for out for not smoking, alcohol or just a cultural norm. Do not listen, do what you feel is best with your friends, family and others. What is fun to note - this is posted in the GenX subreddit. I drink about 1-2 times a month. I would say maybe 1/4 of those times, I overdo it. I will start listening to music and then polish off a six pack of nice beer or a bottle of wine. I have been a naughty girl and polished off 1.5 bottles wine here and there. Hate the hangover. Hate the hangxiety. I'm phasing alcohol out in due time and going to dip my toe into cannabis soon. Moving soon to a state where it is legal and readily available in many a form. For the time being, I do like my wine and beer every couple of weeks to enjoy music and take the edge off.

I've only been truly drunk twice in my life. Once was on sangria at a house party, and the other was home alone with raspberry vodka (a Christmas present I had planned on regifting, but opened one night when I was going through some stuff). One or maaaybe two drinks is my usual limit, and I rarely have even that in the last ten years or so. My drink of choice is usually beer or hard cider, or a glass of wine with a nice meal. I grew up seeing a LOT of problematic drinking, so I was never tempted to make it a big part of my life.

I seem to be the only one here, but since I had a kid in the waning days of 2019 and the COVID lockdown in 2020 I drink literally every day. 8-12 pints a day of Guinness. I didn't drink when I was in my 20s, but I fell into it as a coping mechanism and haven't been able to get away from it. But that's almost exclusively at home. I go out twice a month during the day to get my housekeeper lunch and have a few beers. She doesn't like to eat until 2-3pm so I go out at noon and have a couple/few and snag her lunch.

Drunk? Very rarely now days. Last time was end of September and I’d say 7 pints drunk. I used to get far more drunk. Last time I was properly drunk, with a proper hang over would have been back in the summer when I went to lunch with a friend and we forgot the food! I go out for beers a couple of times a month but it’s usually about 4 - 5 pints over 4 hours. I’m English living in London. I used to get hammered every week, out every night.

51, never been drunk in my life. My father had alcohol problems when I was a teenager, so I long avoided alcohol for fear that it may be hereditary. I didn't have my first drink of alcohol until I was 30. I never become a heavy or even regular drinker, only on various social occasions (the last time I drink was at my sister's birthday party in Sept.) and I always managed to cut myself off the minute I started to feel myself getting a *little* tipsy.

I don't go out and get drunk. If we go out it's like one or two beers. At home I might indulge more because I don't have to drive but only like New Year's or holidays or occasional summer weekend. But even then it's not more than a strong buzz. Too many years of having kids around and needing there to be a functioning and capable adult on hand in case of emergency. My husband liked drinking more than I did so I took the pass. It's habit now.

The last time I went OUT and got drunk was....err....October 2020 - went to a Halloween themed sketch show that had a few acquintances in it and stayed for the after party. I don't go out to get drunk anymore. If I want to get drunk, and that's so rare these days, I will do that at home. If I'm drinking when I'm out I stick to under 3 drinks, 1 if I'm driving later. It's way too expensive now to go out to drink. Beers are like $10 a pint, mixed drinks are up to $25....dui and tickets, no thanks.

I drink at home - cheaper, and frankly more convivial company :) I will say, however, when I travel for business, I do look for a hotel with a good lounge.
