For us medics the hospitals and university have literally told us to stop testing ourselves. Instead, we are supposed to come to work if we are physically able.

If I'm ill and unable to work, I won't go in. If for some mad reason I took a cheap plastic test which showed some lines, and I was fine, I'd go in.

It can only teach those who want to learn? My office job at the time of January to March 2020 had a guy who was ill for 2 months straight - possibly not covid, but he was coughing that whole time, clearly had lung issues and a fever. Because the workplace shat on the idea of working from home, he didn't want to take weeks off, and naturally the "company" wasn't going to suggest he not come in or work from home. Everyone in that period with a cold or anything, was still going in the office.. I no longer work there, but I doubt much has changed. Principally because they are not pro remote working.

I'm supposed to be on a flight to see my family in Ireland. We have a pre-Christmas get together every year as a number of us work over Christmas (essential workers). But I'm not going because I'm sick. It's not covid, I had that in October 4 days after I got my booster. But it isn't pleasant; it's a sore chesty cough and scratchy throat with general feeling ill. I am not passing that onto my family; even the young, fit and healthy members. We're losing the flight and first hotel night money (less than 24 hours, they will cancel and refund subsequent nights). Plus it's going to cost now to post Christmas presents and cards. And I'm spending my annual leave being ill rather than using it for fun. It sucks. But that's just life, these things happen and you have no control over them. We'll get together next year when we're all well.

Yes. I don't get sick pay so first 4 days I think are unpaid. No special time off for covid now.

Although morally i would I almost couldn’t pay my rent when it was still mandatory to stay home with covid but with no pay. Being forced to stay home for 10 days meant missing £700. Thats a lot of money. Especially as ssp was only £92

Covid is not a big deal at all I’ve probably had it several times and I’m unvaccinated (never bothered to actually test to see if it was covid whenever I feel “I’ll”) However I would take the opportunity to take days off work if I did test positive because why not, I get a break from work. I’ll probably get a bunch of downvotes for this but I don’t care.

The media like to waffle and exaggerate how many deaths from covid there are and just as I said before, I’ll probably get downvotes for this too but it’s whatever. I refuse to believe covid kills this many people. I do not know 1 person that has died from covid and I’ve never even heard of a friend of a friend that has died from covid or anything like that. I do know that the media liked to blame many deaths that weren’t covid related, on covid. My point is, if you are ILL in general with any virus or anything contagious you shouldn’t go to work regardless because anyone who is old or has health defects can be in danger from it as they can develop serious health complications from it, it’s not just covid, it’s the flu, the cold, any virus really… So it shouldn’t just be concentrated around covid.

No. Not even because it's COVID in particular, but going into work with any transmittable bug is a daft thing to do. I wouldn't even go into the office if I had a cold. It's pretty annoying when I go into the office and there's people coughing and spluttering, it's both distracting and increasing the chances those around you get ill. Either WFH or take a sick day.

I'd just work from home if I wasn't feeling unwell with it. If I was feeling unwell I'd take sick days. I absolutely wouldn't go into the office. I get a busy commuter train to a big office, so I'd feel irresponsible if I went in.
