How do I complain about somebody who is standing for councillor?

I don’t want to give exact details but I know for certain that this person should not hold any position of power. Let’s just say it’s hate-crime related. I’m very surprised they were able to stand so can only think that the incident was not disclosed. Who do I complain to?

Presumably they've either served a prison sentence or are on the Sexual Offenders Register? Those are the main disqualifications routes. Contact the Electoral Commission to establish if they actually would be barred from standing if your info is correct. If they are, they can deal with it. If they are legally allowed to stand, then providing info for opposing parties to check and publicise would be your only option.

Thankyou. It’s an odd one as they weren’t charged with anything but they were investigated and it’s officially acknowledged in the report that they definitely played a part. I will contact the Electoral Commission as you’ve suggested, thanks.
