"Shuffle" button on Mazda3 touchscreen is clicking on/off by itself, and when I press the button with my finger it doesn't respond -- am I looking at a major electronics repair or do you guys think something else could be causing this?

A few weeks ago I began noticing the shuffle button on my touchscreen was beeping on and off rapidly, on its own, when I had the vehicle in park or when I was stopped at red lights etc. (This is the only time the screen is enabled -- if the vehicle is in drive they disable the touch screen functionality as a safety feature.)
I thought the screen might have a smudge on it but I've thoroughly cleaned it and it kept happening. Then it went away... Until today.
Now, not only does it keep turning on and off on its own, but the screen itself doesn't respond when I touch it. I captured a video of the dead screen area here: https://imgur.com/a/sLwf2ng
As you can see, all the other surrounding buttons work, but when I press the shuffle button it doesn't respond to my finger touching it. It's almost like there are dead pixels or something.
The vehicle is a 2017 Mazda3 with just under 60k miles. I've kept it in regular maintenance. I can't figure out what would cause this other than a defective electronics touch screen?
I should note I first experienced this issue on a really hot/humid day, and today is once again in the 90s, which makes me wonder if it's heat related... perhaps the high heat is damaging electrical components?
Do you guys have any idea what could be causing this and/or how much $$$ I'm looking at to repair it?

TIL the screen in my 2017 Mazda3 is a touch screen... I'm having this same issue lol
Were you ever able to get it sorted out?

Damn I didn’t know until this comment

FYI I ended up disabling the touch screen. That’s what was causing the ghost touch for me. It was really easy to do. Maybe took 15 minutes

How do you disable? It’s happening to me too

You have to take it out and unclip or cut the ribbon cable for the touch screen. There are guides on YouTube

Did you have this problem while the vehicle was driving?
I have the ghost touching present in my 2017 mazda 3, and it's active while I'm driving, so I didn't know if I could do the "fix" where you unclip the touch screen ribbon....seeing as it's hitting the button while moving, and not only stopped or in park.

I also having this problem in my Mazda 3 2017 model. So frustrating

Mine is 2018 Mazda 3 sedan and this issue just popped up out of nowhere. I didn’t record the video yet. I’ll record it once it happens again and take the car to dealership. Man what a drag.

It just happened to me too, it’s so annoying. 2018 Mazda 3 sedan. My touch screen still works but it keeps making this beeping noise and going on and off it’s so annoying

I found a trick and it worked for me. After starting the vehicle, I will immediately go to drive mode. The ghost issue didn’t appear if I do this. I know this is not a fix but for temporarily I’m using this trick.

Mine has started doing it too!! Idk what’s going on

Mine stopped after couple of days. Don’t know what is going on.
