"Shuffle" button on Mazda3 touchscreen is clicking on/off by itself, and when I press the button with my finger it doesn't respond -- am I looking at a major electronics repair or do you guys think something else could be causing this?

A few weeks ago I began noticing the shuffle button on my touchscreen was beeping on and off rapidly, on its own, when I had the vehicle in park or when I was stopped at red lights etc. (This is the only time the screen is enabled -- if the vehicle is in drive they disable the touch screen functionality as a safety feature.)

I thought the screen might have a smudge on it but I've thoroughly cleaned it and it kept happening. Then it went away... Until today.

Now, not only does it keep turning on and off on its own, but the screen itself doesn't respond when I touch it. I captured a video of the dead screen area here: https://imgur.com/a/sLwf2ng

As you can see, all the other surrounding buttons work, but when I press the shuffle button it doesn't respond to my finger touching it. It's almost like there are dead pixels or something.

The vehicle is a 2017 Mazda3 with just under 60k miles. I've kept it in regular maintenance. I can't figure out what would cause this other than a defective electronics touch screen?

I should note I first experienced this issue on a really hot/humid day, and today is once again in the 90s, which makes me wonder if it's heat related... perhaps the high heat is damaging electrical components?

Do you guys have any idea what could be causing this and/or how much $$$ I'm looking at to repair it?
