What is the difference between the primary and general images from a speed camera?

I've just got a speeding notice saying I was going 43 in a 30. There are two evidence photos. The 'primary' shows 43, but the 'general' shows 42. Is there anything I can do to appeal the decision to claim I was going at 43? The 1mph is the difference between points and a fine and a drivers Ed course.

You could, I guess, but a course is purely at the discretion of the issuing force, and there may be other things in play. They might consider time of day, traffic, weather conditions, proximity of other vehicles - in other words, if they wanted to, they could still refuse, and they make that point quite clear. https://www.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/rs/road-safety/speeding/if-youve-received-a-speed-camera-activation-letter-or-notice/ The reason a stationary camera is in a certain place is usually because it's an accident blackspot, so you might have a *slightly* better chance if it's one of those "tax collector" vans.

Likely shit out of luck with a 1mph difference. They take more than 1 image, your second image shows a 1mph difference as you would have been slowing down. In reality it'd be like a 0.1mph difference, rounded. You can always try it though, just contact the authority that issued the fine and express your concern. You might get lucky.
