Why do Brits tend to not bother seeing a doctor even if things get bad?

Asking from my own experience here because I think I've grown up often being treated like any sort of medical issue I had,or was feeling, I was over exaggerating or overthinking. Particularly in my teens and now 20s, my mother and family I live with never really urged me to see a doctor or see anybody if I had an issue that was effecting me, often felt like they downplayed it and due to my severe social anxiety (potential autism that I still haven't gone to the doctor about), I hold off on making appointments due to the fact that I feel like I'm wasting the doctor's time and that they too will undermine my issue or tell me there's nothing wrong. I've also had bad experiences with my past doctor (I have a new one now that I haven't seen yet) where he never showed any sort of interest and was not helpful whatsoever. I've noticed this about a lot of fellow Brits in my life, that unless they know they are literally dying, 9 times out of 10, they won't see a doctor even if something is effecting them. Was wondering why some of us tend to think like this and put it off. My sister has said that she thinks I should see my doctor in case I have diabetes as there are only 2 symptoms out of 7 that I don't relate to but up until now, my family just kind of didn't see an urgency or problem with how or why I'm having such issues (and there's quite a few). Just wondering out of curiosity, if you put off going to the doctor because you think you're overthinking, why do you think this?
