Ideally, pop down to the dog shelter and get me a big, old gentle soul of a dog, and give him a great life until he shuffles off over the bridge.
View on Reddit #14008219

Minimum-Pay-4169@reddit

That sounds lovely, but it 9s free. What does it have to do with 300 pounds
View on Reddit #14025208

Solid_Bake4577@reddit

I've never encountered a rescue centre that doesn't charge an adoption fee, and rightly so. Usually in the £150-250 bracket.
View on Reddit #14025856

lazyplayboy@reddit

Furthermore, if an adoption fee of <£300 is the only thing that's stopping you getting a dog, then you can't afford to look after a dog.
View on Reddit #14026024

Milky_Finger@reddit

I don't like when people gatekeep things on the premise of someone being "brokie" when they excel in every other aspect of the job (giving it love, attention and time).
View on Reddit #14029945

Solid_Bake4577@reddit

*Furthermore*? No - it's not the adoption fee that's stopping me, so you can pack away your indignation. It's the consideration of the other people in my life. You see, the question was a hypothetical one, which is why I precursored my answer with "Ideally..."
View on Reddit #14027218

No-Comparison1211@reddit

Just wondering, could you not still do this now anyways? It's awesome to see when people give senior dogs a chance and let them live the rest of their time happy and comfortably.
View on Reddit #14022704

Milky_Finger@reddit

Looking after a senior dog is much much more complicated and challenging than looking after a dog in it's prime. You have to be prepared for that
View on Reddit #14029904

Solid_Bake4577@reddit

Unfortunately not. My partner doesn't, at this moment in time, want a pet. I get it because you have to plan around them. I was answering based on the hypothetical situation that someone gives me £300, which I could spend literally as I pleased.
View on Reddit #14025985

Amphibious_squirrel@reddit

I would also do this if we could cope with a third dog. Our two rescues love each other but I fear a third would be too much strain on all of us. Maybe I’d just give the money to the shelter as it would pay for food and toys for all the lovely dogs and cats looking for homes.

View on Reddit #14024041

Skeptischer@reddit

One of the most expensive parts of a trip to Eastern Europe is getting to the airport in the U.K. which I won’t consider. £50 flights, £120 for three nights in an Airbnb leaves you £130 for food and activities. Eat breakfast in after a £10 trip to the supermarket, three times lunch and dinner at £90 (£30 a day is generous) leaves £30 for some drinks and museum/gallery/gig/whatever. Transport is cheap in country, so you can squeeze that out from the leftovers as I’ve rounded up generously. I’ve done many trips like this, highly recommend.
View on Reddit #14025631

andreeeeeaaaaaaaaa@reddit

People never think to book things for themselves... They always go with wanko companies like Tui that are rip off merchants
View on Reddit #14029502

a4991@reddit

It’s fairly straightforward, look on Skyscanner for flights to anywhere, using cheapest month. You can usually get flights under £50. If you’re going alone, go for a hostel, if you’re going as a group, air bnb works best. Travel insurance can be cheaper under £20 for the whole year, so spreads the cost out, and if you live close enough to an airport, ask a friend to take you and repay the favour back another time.

Sorry if I'm poking the hornets nest here but why not just keep it as money instead of converting to vouchers? You'd be exchanging one currency of universal value that can earn a little interest to a company specific currency that has no value elsewhere and can't increase in value. That being said however, I ask for Amazon vouchers from family too, it feels rude to ask for money and I can always find something to buy on there. 🙂
