Do you have a lock on your bathroom door?

I have bolts on mine but as I live alone they only ever get used if I have visitors. The house we moved into when I was about 10 didn't, it was one of the first things my parents changed. (It seemed particularly odd to us, as the layout of the house meant the bathroom opened off the front hall, which also had doors to the dining room and the front and back doors, so leaving it ajar if no one was using it wasn't really ideal.) That said, given that we were a family of 6 and there was only one bathroom for the first few years we were there, it was generally accepted that you didn't lock the door if you were taking a long bath, but did let people know in advance to reduce the risk of anyone needing to come in! ​ I don't think it is a massive issue if you have a system, such as only ever completely closing the door if the bathroom is in use, and warning visitors. (I think also that some people who have young children prefer not to have locks to avoid the risk of a child locking themselves in - less of an issue with the sort of bolt you can unlock from the outside with a coin, but it can be why some people remove the locks or chose not to install one. Its not hard to fit one it you want one
