On my way home today we saw dogwood trees blooming in the middle of November in northern Minnesota. It was 45’f today and will be 55 on Wednesday.
I’m starting to worry more than I usually do.
To be fair if someone came up to you and handed you a basket full of shit with a note attached that said; “You were sold off by a couple of expiring rich people, shits hitting the fan right now, but it’s definitely going to get worse” you wouldn’t be so calm…I’m not saying people should worry their heads off every second of their lives, but expecting people *not* to worry about the current state the world is in is just unrealistic. “There’s not much that we can do” doesn’t promote acceptance, it just leads you to an apathetic and numb life.
Gee, maybe, the destruction of the only climate that modern humanity has ever known?
Even if the entire world dropped what they're doing right now and threw *everything* they had at trying to stop and reverse the destruction of the climate, with the current 'solutions' it wouldn't be enough. The damage is already done, and we're going to be dealing with the devastating effects of living lifestyles well beyond the planets ability to provide for a long time going forward.
And we are far FAR from 'doing everything in our power' to stop it.
Buckle up buckaroo, things about to get crazy!
Many people are catching on that we're in trouble, but in a "haha guess we're fucked" sort of way. They don't dig deeper for details, so they don't reach the stage of "we're fucked, and it's going to be so scary that a quick death will be salvation". They don't let themselves dip into the panic zone at all.
I think that if you truly understand the extent of our predicament, you will at least panic a little bit. It allows you to change your life and appreciate it more. Most people don't go that far and just keep living the exact same life as before, stressing themselves out about how to buy more stuff.
There was a time I was never very far away from a Midsommar-esque breakdown. But now I'm just kind of tired.
I believe, personally, it's a rational response to having a 10 ton Acme weight constantly foisted above your head. At a certain point it's like, you know what, just fucking do it already, do it and get it done.
Exhaustion really seems to be the zeitgeist at the moment. Everyone I meet just seem so tired, most stuff I see people share online is how tired they are. I mean it could totally be myself just projecting or being within my echo chamber, but it’s what I see. With everything going on there should be much more organizing maybe even riots but very little is happening in that regard.
I know some people argue that Europe (where I am from) have been exhausted ever since WWII, which I can agree with but it really feels like the exhaustion has intensified greatly for the past two decades and probably taken a whole other leap since Covid started.
And I myself am torn about really wanting to live my life to the fullest or just wanting to sleep forever.
Why panic? You only die anxious and exhausted.
Personally, I try to enjoy the next few years as much as possible. I don't stress about work anymore, I spend as much time as I can with my family and in my garden.
Every time I mention something to the spouse about how weird the weather is, I get told that it's normal for November! I'm starting to really dislike the person I've been married to for the last 20 years. Just doesn't see how it's all falling apart. I'm trying to do my little part, even if it is to just stop adding to the problem, but I'm still having to do things I no longer support. Like buy & cook meat when I'm vegetarian for example. Sorry, I'm ranting here, but I'm so upset. And even more so because I was told at dinner that if I were bald I'd look like Sajid Javid FFS. Is having a spouse who's just not aware of what's happening reason enough to get a divorce? Grrr.
Sorry. And thanks for letting me let off steam!
To all fellow Europeans, you can choose a US based Invidious [instance](https://docs.invidious.io/instances/#list-of-public-invidious-instances-sorted-from-oldest-to-newest) and paste the yt link inside the search , this way you should be able to see it.
As an outside observer, sure. As an inside observer, it will be a mix of boring "nothing ever happened" and a split second of panic before your end. Somewhere in the middle of that, a lot of decline, rebuild, destruction, and adaptation that never really fully recovers.
SS: A fairly main-stream news network gives a pretty multifaceted systemic look with historical context, of "apocalypses" or...collapse.
> And as we know from history: societies aren’t exactly stable and can collapse. But whereas destruction used to take place on a more local scale, now we’re living in a globally networked high-tech civilization, which means that the next demise could very well be a global one.
Collapse related because it's part of a rising trend of collapse-awareness going on in our media and direct news.

It will be global. First, destruction is still very much local. BUT, like the internet, economic and capitalism especially, reroute around this damage. To go exploit the next area, and the next, and the next. Until ashes, ashes, we all fall down.
Then you heap regional and global collapses on top of all that, events like global warming never before possible.
Sorry Europe— apparently you can't handle the apocalypse. Alas, I've seen the movies about the apocalypse though, and it's rarely as exciting or cool as it sounds. It's a slow and creeping slog, it's the IRL Technicolor version of the Sound of Silence (the Staind version). Do not fret Europe, we here in America love you like a brother or sister, but don't ask us to cosign on a car or for a loan before payday, because we're broke too. Americans have lost hope collectively, and it shows so obviously throughout every single segment of society. It's a mad world, a sad world.
The real song of the apocalypse my friends, let me introduce.... Mad World by Gary Jules...

Im going to send it 2 my German friend. It was prolly on tv there, why else would they get a bunch of Germans to speak the whole time and then pay translators?
If you haven’t already, you’re part of the problem.
Normalization is a technique used by pedophiles to trick children into crazy sexual behavior.
No one wants to admit it. But the reason you hate Jeffrey Epstein. It’s because we’re living in an environment where they have normalized traveling 60+ miles a day using fossil fuels.
Believe it or not, your kids have no future the end has come
It all makes sense if you look at resources, not what you want to believe
But societies have proven that hyper normalization is stronger than fact enjoy the demise
God, you finally gave me what i was looking for : a phrase to describe the human version of ant death spirals. It’s hyper normalization!!
Thank you, kind stranger!!
I had an experience recently where I felt like I figured it all out. I hope you gain some joy from this.
If you have further understanding, that’s deeper than mine I would love to hear it as discourse is what we’re missing in life
Often the most complex things are very simple. I see no reason to dive deeper unless you have some question beyond this? I bring my shovel everywhere, but i only dig when necessary.
I have mental health issues that require me to have to be able to function in society. Needless to say, I'm unfortunately going to be one of the first to die. 🤷♂️🫡
It made me happy because 99 percent of the population is being fake about this. Some clown on this sub got bitchy with me when I discussed extreme heat deaths and hurricane damage and told me I was being mean. THANKFULLY THIS DOCUMENTARY DISCUSSED JUST WORLD THEORISTS! Just amazingly healing because all I hear in the part of the USA that I live is elites complaining that nobody wants to work, people are lazy, while watching employees in 45C from an air conditioned room.
