I can’t recall watching the film and will have to add it to the list but the book is incredible and is one of the great joys of my childhood reading and it hits just as hard when read as an adult. I recognise a Don Bluth styled character (his mice style goes back to "The Rescuers") - and since Wil Wheaton isn't old enough for that one, I'll go with "The secret of NIMH". I've never understood whether it stood for "National Institute for Mental Health" or "Nickel Metal Hydride" (as in rechargeable batteries) though.

It really is wonderful. Perfect early animation. They left Disney to make it because big D thought it was too dark.
