When was your innocence ruined?

Two moment for me. The day after Mountbatten and 18 soldiers from the Parachute Regiment were murdered in 1979, a black & white Leeds taxi partially exploded at closing time on the car park of the pub my parents owned. Nearby was a Territorial Army Parachute barracks. Many TA members were customers. We were terrified and made to evacuate. Later, we learned the car’s LPG tanks had leaked and could’ve easily razed the pub to the ground. No one was injured. The firemen hung around for a few free and well earned pints. Second was my travel agent calling to reschedule my flight to America because I’d said the layover connection at JKF was too long for my then toddler. She called me late Tuesday afternoon to reschedule my Wednesday flight to Thursday. I drove over to get my new tickets immediately. It was 1988. The flight we cancelled was Pan Am 103. Yes, I was heavily questioned for days afterwards upon arrival in America. Despite being a young mother, I lost my youth day. 🎶Every generation blames the one before🎶
