An app that can order an ice cream truck to swing by your street at a random time of the day

I just miss ice cream trucks. They are so seldom seen these days where I live. Bring them back please.

It’s called Door Dash, and the ice cream will be $50.
PM_YOUR_SOURCECODE@reddit
Not including the tip. And your ice cream will be half melted when it arrives. Enjoy!

No guarantee you even get your ice cream
devBowman@reddit
The tip that also goes to Doordash and not the delivery driver
linderlouwho@reddit
Why they don't stop with the tipping (and theft of it) and just give the delivery driver a reasonable delivery fee (with a minimum) is just idiotic. They can use other line items to gouge the customer. If someone wants to tip, they can do it with cash at delivery, but it shouldn't be expected. Tipping for every fucking thing is a malignant cash grab in the US, anymore. With the fake inflation, and the 30% expected tipping, I just quit eating out and started cooking at home. FTS

You are so funny😂

I don't mean a personal delivery to your door. I mean an app that can influence the route of an ice cream truck to come around to your location
linderlouwho@reddit
I was just kidding with you. :-)

About 6-7 years ago Uber did a promotion in NYC that was this idea. You could order an ice cream truck!

An extra 20 if you want the guy on the bike to belt out Greensleeves on the way
kittyotails@reddit
We have this here in Wales it's brilliant service 👏 😀 👍
anonatbwn@reddit
ice cream truck tracker app xD
day9700@reddit
They have exactly that where I live in NJ…..just outside NYC. I can’t remember the damn name! You download this app and it will notify you when someone in your area has ordered ice cream so you know the truck will be in your area and you can tell it to stop at your house! My friend is such an ice cream lover…he and his wife love it!
NotBatman81@reddit
You are taking away the magic. If you just missed the ice cream truck put on your running shoes and head it off at the next block like any red blooded American would do. Apps are for sugar free organic soy desserts.

If I could even just get a website with their route so I knew where to go if they're not coming through my neighborhood, that'd be great.
mccoy217@reddit
Drone delivered ice cream would be more fun and profitable
mccoy217@reddit
If there was money in it, it would exist. This is not really a hard idea to think up and many people have probably thought about it, I have.
ThatGuyFromSweden@reddit
This is pretty much already a thing here.
SeriousPuppet@reddit
I like it. I think a lot of kids and teens would use this app alot. Get it done
Lantagonist@reddit
There is one in New Jersey called the Scream Truck. They text you when they are in your area, then will come right to your house if you want.

We do it every couple of weeks, probably. It's actual soft serve rather than traditional ice cream truck fare. It's pretty good, though, and definitely more convenient than going to an ice cream place

Fuck yea
Impulse3000@reddit
It lets you mark your house, street, lane, or cul-de-sac, that Ice Cream truck drivers can use and add to their route, and it's only for that day, and you can select a timeframe, based on their route.
Fuhgetabout@reddit
There's one in my neighborhood; it comes out in the summer. It keeps getting sold, because the owners get tired of doing it, or maybe they don't make enough money. I'm not going to put an ice cream truck driver out of her way just to sell ME one little ice cream bar. But I give them extra money when they come by, so they can give free ice cream to the poorer kids.
DEADB33F@reddit
The secret to a profitable ice cream business is to also sell drugs to the older kids.
...at least this was traditionally the case in the UK.
-_ellipsis_-@reddit (OP)
Yea I'm not at all saying an ice cream truck goes out of their way to serve you personally and immediately. Just a way where I can say "today there's a market demand in this location", and if enough people use it, then they can optimize routes and therefore business
Fuhgetabout@reddit
Works for me.
Wigbold@reddit
Not sure about this one. For me, the surprise ice cream part is half of the fun.
Quaysan@reddit
Honestly, no joke, if I could have an autonomous vehicle arrive, a slow moving ice cream truck that stops for any kids is probably the best application of that idea
KilowogTrout@reddit
Sure, or we could do the human one right now.
Quaysan@reddit
true, an app that shows you where ice cream trucks are would work too--paying a fee to have them alter their route
shaunnotthesheep@reddit
That's a better idea I think. More options
CarlJustCarl@reddit
Now you’re talkin’
RoyalTease@reddit
It has to tell you when ice cream truck will be approaching. I have 5 dollars when this is finished, and I will have time to donate until this is finished. This is probably the best idea of our adult lives.
