ULPT Request: If I don't get a doctor note I'm fired.

ULPT Request: I need a doctors note or I'm fired
I've been working at this company for 5 years without a break. I got stomach flu, and I didn't go to a doctor because I have no health insurance. I just drank fluids and blah blah. Point is, I decided to draw out how sick I was for two extra days so I could get some things done. Because I've never taken off in my life, I didnt know that after missing 3 days you need a doctors note to return. Ive missed almost a week now and never went to a doctor, and I was just informed about needing a note. What can I do to get a note? Would a doctor even write on the note that I needed that whole week off?
Evolm@reddit
I'd be happy to make you that note.

I get asked a lot if your employer can call and verify and I found this thread. They can't verify because of HIPPA. Top comment says it all.

Evolm@reddit
Hi yes
Ok_Wealth732@reddit
Can anyone still help me with a dr notw
saraphilipp@reddit
free dr. note template
Afterhoneymoon@reddit
Exactly. They can’t react doctor? Not your issue.
SoonerFan619@reddit
They will look up the name of the doctor at the hospital to see if it matches. That’s what both of my HR reps did.
Evolm@reddit
This is why that template site is risky.
BookerCatchanSTD@reddit
They need real work to do.
Wrocket_@reddit
I know right, that's what these HR reps always do lol smh
No-Fix2372@reddit
They need to find some real work to do. When That was my role under HR, I just said thank you and put it in their file. Only verified if it was workman’s comp related.
reverielagoon1208@reddit
HR and recruiters belong on the bottom layer of hell
leperaffinity56@reddit
HR I get, but recruiters? I've used recruiters to land every new job I've gotten since college; what am I missing?
imBobertRobert@reddit
Some recruiters don't know when to stop - give them an inch and they'll take a mile kind of people, as in they'll never stop calling or texting, from different numbers, for years. Daily, multiple times a day.
And then there's the contractor recruiter companies where they get the finders fee as well as a recurring charge that's 20-50% of the contractors gross pay. Pretty much a middle man for the sake of being a middle man. It's supposedly for liability, so the contracted company can fire them more easily, but it feels so scummy knowing that the recruiter company is making just as much money as you doing nothing. (Obviously employee taxes and legally required benefits knock that down, but they wouldn't be doing it if they didn't make money off of the situation).
Alpha_Zerg@reddit
Just like every career, there are some good ones that actually care. Just like every career with a bad reputation though, they can be few and far between and are worse in the US.
Raskol57@reddit
Thanks to Covid, you can pick any Dr name from any locale and call it a telehealth visit
MemeAddict96@reddit
That’s fine, you can pick a real doctor from the directory. HR can call all they want but (in the US) HIPAA law prevents them from telling your employer about any of your health info.
D_forn@reddit
They are allowed to say whether they met with the patient or not, not allowed to divulge medical records tho
Cleverusername531@reddit
Not true at all if the patient hasn’t signed a release. They can’t (legally in the US at least) confirm to anyone that they’ve ever even seen you. So problem solved, because the OP won’t have signed a release since they’re not a patient.
DaddyDizz_@reddit
The nurses and receptionists at the doctors offices that I go to wouldn’t even entertain the request by looking up whether that person is in the system. They would notify the employer that the information is privileged and send them on their way.
MyNameIs-Anthony@reddit
I once had a call with a receptionist drop. Called back within 30 seconds, they recognized who I was and still made me reconfirm all my info.
Monsieur-Incroyable@reddit
Yeah, that's not true. Nurse here... They cannot/should not confirm a damn thing with out a signed release. That's an easy "Aw Hell, no" if a business was calling asking about an employee.
EF_Boudreaux@reddit
HIPAA. Even if they called the drs office can’t say shit.
Afterhoneymoon@reddit
Yep! I’d say “Talk to the HIPPA HIPPO!” 🦛
Professional_Job_841@reddit
They can say names and dates technically.
It’s “hipaa” too, and what gives you true anonymity only is from CF-42. Aka mental health or d/a treatment centers
Brandycane1983@reddit
The call center I worked at made us have the doctor fax the note directly to the company from the hospital. I don't even know how that's legal
SurrrenderDorothy@reddit
A call center did. LMFAO. They are lucky they can get anyone to work for them in the first place.
Pale-Stranger-9743@reddit
This is r/IllegalLifeProTips territory...
illQualmOnYourFace@reddit
I can't imagine how forging a doctor's note for this purpose is a crime. At worst it's unethical and a fireable offense, and the company could seek reimbursement of sick time paid. However, then they have to defend their sick policy requiring a note.
Forging a doctor's note for a prescription, however, would be super illegal.
polymute@reddit
zefy_zef@reddit
I don't think it is forgng if there is no actual doctor. I'm probably wrong though.
t_scribblemonger@reddit
Not sure why you’re downvoted. Making up a name and signature is lying; using an actual doctor’s name and forging their signature is much worse.
zefy_zef@reddit
Yeah maybe something like impersonating a medical professional or something.
irreverent-username@reddit
Forgery of this kind is not illegal. This is like forging your parent's signature on your detention notice. It's just a regular lie, backed up by a letter from a fake person.
LeafsWinBeforeIDie@reddit
If OP was sick, it wasn't even really a lie, just hr forcing a tax (having to pay a doctor) for being unfortunate and getting sick.
irreverent-username@reddit
Unethical tips aside, you can usually get those for free. Send a message on your medical portal: "my employer wants a doctor's note because I was sick." They will probably send you a note without asking any questions.
HakimeHomewreckru@reddit
Are you sure..? Every google link for "is it illegal to forge doctors notes" says its a federal crime in the US.
irreverent-username@reddit
It is only illegal (at least in the US) to either forge the signature of a real person or pretend to be a medical professional.
Try googling "is it illegal to fake a doctor's note," because making up a fake person and drawing a fake signature is not actually forgery.
I'll concede that there is probably a case to be made that this technically counts as pretending to be a medical professional, but there is no precedent for that ruling as far as I can tell.
polymute@reddit
technically illegal
illQualmOnYourFace@reddit
I don't understand your point
brightirene@reddit
He's gonna get fired if he doesn't forge it, so YOLO
saraphilipp@reddit
Not in America..
ctesla01@reddit
Thanks for these.. I'll file them away; if I ever go corporate again.. independent contractor allows WAY more autonomy..
jabblack@reddit
Go to a minute clinic at CVS. You just need a note that you’re sick.
Tasty_Face_7201@reddit
What’s the charge
mdk2004@reddit
The patient was under my care from date to date signed dr. Not a single detail further is legally able to be asked. Every urgent care in the country will write you the note, no questions asked. Drs HATE writting notes. The less ethical the note the less value they have and the closer we are to stopping the system. If you go to a GP, Dr. email them, and it might cost you nothing.
edwinstone@reddit
No they don't.
Tokin420nchokin@reddit
My doctor wont send notes unfortunately and you have to pick them up from his office. He sais they dont have the proper encryption or something on their email system for it.
chillmanstr8@reddit
This
izbeeisnotacat@reddit
My actual doctor's note when I was last out sick from work for an extended period said "Please excuse (izbeeisnotacat) from work due to illness. They may return to work on (date.)
Super short and simple. Plus I'm pretty sure my doc keeps those as a whole ass template on the computer, and just changes names and dates as needed lol
ecodick@reddit
I’m a medical assistant at a clinic, can confirm we have a template for this. Where I’m at now it auto populates with the patients name, very easy.
I’m not sure I’d get approval to write one for somebody that hasn’t been seen in the clinic, but it is standing protocol to write them for anybody that needs or wants one after we’ve seen them. My suggestion to OP is just to go to an urgent care and tell them what’s going on. I imagine they would be willing to backdate the note.
The unethical (and probably illegal, especially if you forge a signature) version is to write the note yourself.
Xraptorx@reddit
The urgent care near me won’t do it without being seen, unless you are a previous patient and were seen for a chronic illness. I have IBS and learned that policy after a similar situation when I walked in and asked the receptionist about it because I’d had a flare up and physically couldn’t drive to a dr until 3 days later.
ecodick@reddit
Oh yeah sorry, i was suggesting being seen as a patient.
Xraptorx@reddit
I got that, and my local urgent care does the same as y’all, except for situations like I described in which I was told in the future to just give them a call and to let them know the dates I needed. They would fax a note over.
sms2014@reddit
I work in dental, and we have these for sure as a template. In fact, I have a blank one ready for each patient (in pediatrics you need one for school excuses)
mrskmh08@reddit
The last time I had to get a note, it was the same. My name, excused to date, signed doctor.
Lablez_N_Tatts@reddit
Urgent care you can walk in and say your job asked you to get a note just stating you were seen
Javajnkie@reddit
Forge it. Use a real doctor’s name and contact information. Your work won’t call to verify it, and even if they did, privacy laws would prevent t the office from confirming that you were there anyway.
khalifaman420@reddit
I heard this is false if the job faxes the note the doctors can verify
splimp@reddit
Just fake one - I've never heard of a doctor being called to verify authenticity of a note for a few days off. Super easy.
Hinote21@reddit
Pretty sure no doctor would provide information about a patients health status over the phone...
khalifaman420@reddit
I heard of you job faxes the note they can verify if you were there or not
LlamaMiaLetMeGo@reddit
In the US, it's illegal unless you have given written consent for your information to be released over the phone
Hinote21@reddit
That was my point. And I'm pretty sure Europe generally follows suit with GDPR.
Spring_Assembly@reddit
This was a thing in Europe well before GDPR
notmybookcover@reddit
You are correct! So many people do not know their rights
happy_salad@reddit
Doctor's notes are usually just stating that someone wasn't able to work, not why. But doesn't health insurance need this information, too, because they cover your pay when you're sick for a certain amount of time? But then, I'm not in the US, so it's probably different.
allonsy_badwolf@reddit
Health insurance in the US does not cover your pay while you are off.
There are some add on service that might, but usually not for a short illness.
Some states have paid leave options available, but again those are usually for long term illnesses, child birth etc.
Paid leave would be something a company may offer, or may be state mandated. NY mandates employees accrue sick leave and I know IL is starting in 2024, but it’s definitely not a majority.
happy_salad@reddit
Ah, thanks a lot for explaining!
dragonagitator@reddit
OP said they don't have insurance
flannelmaster9@reddit
Just print one off and sign it with some terrible handwriting.
newheartwithin@reddit
As a nurse, I can confirm 😂 Also use one of the templates someone posted above. Tbh your job isn’t gonna look at it too much or call and ask. They’re just wanting to look at the dates on it. I imagine it’s some HR policy about after x amount of days you need a work note. Most companies have a policy like this, don’t sweat it.
Awotwe_Knows_Best@reddit
what if they're really assholes and decide to call and find out?
newheartwithin@reddit
They won’t. Guarantee it’s just so they have documentation from a legal standpoint that OP is cleared for work so if they drop dead, they can’t be held liable.
khalifaman420@reddit
Not so sure about this i heard if your job faxes them the note they are atleast able to verify if u been seen?
redrosebeetle@reddit
In the US, HIPAA prevents a doctor's office from even confirming that you're one of their patients.
Professional_Job_841@reddit
Untrue. That’s 42 cfr that does that.
Bendr_@reddit
They can’t. HIPAA.
Professional_Job_841@reddit
They can. You all are thinking about CF 42
ivydesert@reddit
HR’s job is to protect the company. They’re not going to fire you unless you’re more of a liability than an asset. I doubt they’ll dig into it unless they have nothing better to do or have reason to believe you’re lying.
memebeam@reddit
I know this is late, but you can actually get a legal doctor’s note online for $40-$60 with a virtual appointment in 15 min. Verifiable and everything. Companies like Sesame and Plush Care. Just google doctor’s note.
pubicgarden@reddit
Sounds like an unethical job. Just get fired and see if you can collect unemployment.
saraphilipp@reddit
Then call them once a week looking for work per your agreement to seek employment with the unemployment office. TROLL the fuck out of them.
Wise_Reality2823@reddit
What if they offer you a job at.min wage? You refuse it then there goes unemplotment
Glistening_Pie@reddit
LOL
CallmeMefford@reddit
Now THAT is an ULPT. Fuck that place. If they’re giving him that much shit, they deserve to get the shocker in their backdoor anyway. Fuck ‘em!
CiteThisSource@reddit
Isn't the shocker technically the front and back door? Two in the pink...
CallmeMefford@reddit
Correct. I should have spoken more precisely. I was thinking of the inverse shocker… two in the stink…
pubicgarden@reddit
Another tip would be that I’ve never been asked to show proof of looking for employment lol
ilovethissheet@reddit
You do in California. As far as Ive heard though the unemployment office is severely understaffed and funded so they only go after people who lie and have a job and get caught once businesses send in their tax info. It takes awhile so a lot of people think they're getting away with it. I know someone who got caught 3 years after collecting unemployment. Had to pay everything back plus a huge fine and can never collect unemployment again.
pubicgarden@reddit
I only had it twice. They didn’t enforce during the pandemic and the time before just asked if you looked when you used the automated system.
Oakroscoe@reddit
Proof of looking for work was suspended during the pandemic by the EDD in CA, however I believe it is back now.
hulkzillaman@reddit
In SC it's the state website you have to log in and apply for 2 jobs per week.
earthwulf@reddit
Depends on the state. When I qas fired in WA, I had to turn in a wekly log.
Salt_MasterX@reddit
Redditors showing their clear lack of life experience meanwhile making strong assertions in r/ulpt. Name a more iconic duo.
ilovethissheet@reddit
OMG this is brilliant
kaitlyncaffeine@reddit
Oohhh that’s good
LlamaMiaLetMeGo@reddit
Be careful. In some areas, job abandonment keeps your from being eligible for unemployment
Sunstorm84@reddit
Can they successfully argue that a week off calling in sick and then returning to work counts as abandonment?
LlamaMiaLetMeGo@reddit
It's possible. But I was moreso referring to the comment saying to just wait to be fired
BeatitLikeitowesMe@reddit
If he wasnt communicating with them then yes. If he was keeping them filled in, not really.
FleurDeezNutz@reddit
Restaurants I worked in used to do this all the time if you were sick. Downside is Unemployment would get you about $200 per month total for that because they go by the $2.13/hr you make working in restaurants in this state.
Kaymish_@reddit
Yeah because they weren't declearing their tips properly probably.
brucebay@reddit
If they fire OOP for this, they would object to unemployment too.
KirkOdenbob@reddit
Shut up bot.
Evolm@reddit
Happy to help! I do all kinds of letters like that, income verification or employment verification, whatever you need
Evolm@reddit
Sure thing !
Sufficient_Ladder729@reddit
Yeah 🤣 and I will probably interrupt the doctors if they keeping fucking with my Google GitHub Microsoft teams and spoon and fork program director Christopher Leigh mann mottzilla dictionary math project for Google now no more mozzila design and new lions head of the ladies coins metadata template
McMgee@reddit
Use Dr.Says it is about $20 or $30 for a note I've used it tons of I need to and they are very nice and will give you the exact note you need. Hope this helps
Passudesu@reddit
Just tried this and the doctor came into the chat, said no, and then disappeared
McMgee@reddit
When you schedule the visit there is a tab where you have to put that you need a doctor's note. I'm not sure why they would do that.. sorry that happened anyways.
Jiminyhodaddy@reddit
Not much of a company if you dont even have health insurance..
BeBodyPositive@reddit
Hello! Please do not use fatphobic phrases or words such as health. Hurtful language about body image can have significant negative impacts on an individual's mental health and self-esteem. It may also be triggering. When someone is subjected to derogatory comments about their appearance, they may begin to feel ashamed or embarrassed about their body, leading to feelings of low self-worth and poor body image. This can result in harmful behaviors such as disordered eating or excessive exercising to change their body in an attempt to conform to societal beauty standards. Moreover, hurtful language about body image can also contribute to the development of anxiety and depression, leading to long-term consequences on an individual's mental health. Therefore, it is crucial to promote body positivity and refrain from making negative comments about someone's appearance. Genius hack, might even get another week off!
dachshundie@reddit
If you are dead set on getting a note, which would be the cleanest option, most likely, then just make a doctor's appointment (can even be with one of those online doctors), and pay for them to give you a note. Will cost you some $$, but it'll make the situation go away pretty quick.
chillmanstr8@reddit
Did this in exam days in college, successfully
sea_glass_4259@reddit
This is correct. Just go to the doctor, say you had the stomach flu, and you are still having bowel issues. They aren't going to make you prove it.
WalleyeSushi@reddit
OP!! You don't need to see a Dr to get a Dr's note. Call your Dr or and adult Dr's office and tell them the situation and that you need a note and they will email you one. Tell them you were sick the only time off period though and explain how sick in detail.
jradio@reddit
Not unethical, but use Teladoc on you phone and talk to a doctor right away. Or an urgent care visit, but those typically cost more. Get the note, then do unethical things to it if need be.
chillmanstr8@reddit

I've heard that CirrusMD gives doctor's notes for virtual visits, but I haven't pursued one myself.
CallmeMefford@reddit
If you’ve been there for 5 years and this is the first time you’ve called in, you’re good. If they ask you for a doctors note, say “This company doesn’t provide health insurance, so I can’t afford to go see a doctor to ask for a note.” And if they give you grief after that, the place is even more toxic than you realize, and you should leave. In this day & age, a new job is easy to find. Don’t put up with that. You deserve better.
OJJhara@reddit
Exactly. Tell them what you told us.
Chroncraft@reddit
It's the best way to do it, but side note, even if your boss is a good person, it sucks that bigger companies will punish THEM for not following procedure.
I hated seeing my bosses have to deal with their higher ups when it came to anything at all.
I actually ended up dating one of my bosses for a few years (in secret but we were never penalized)
She would share how much pressure she was under and how insanely depressed it made her just having to be a shithead to her great employees for the pure reason of keeping her own job...
The company kept asking me why I didn't pursue advancement in management. (I was in a logistics management position for a large retail chain)
Duh, I didn't get paid anywhere near what real management did but I also didn't want to take a toaster bath after every shift.
corduroycats, I hope you get off in a good way, at least just a write up would be fine, so you can work while you look for something not so shitty!
I've had those sick days where you're sick but you when you get better you just have that mindset and say "fuck this job"
RXP36@reddit
Definitely do what this guy says. If they can’t provide insurance, they can’t expect you to have money to go to the doctor. But say it confidently and with no regrets.

Yeah, especially if you don't have anyone else to drive you. You can't drive to the Dr while puking/shitting and probably delirious.
I just had a stomach bug and couldn't make it to the toilet, let alone my driveway. Even if my husband wanted to take me to the Dr, where an I supposed to puke? What if I shit myself? For the Dr to tell me what I already know (rest, fluids, BRAT diet, temp checks) and a note for a terrible job? Nope.
RXP36@reddit

CharlotteBadger@reddit
But don’t quit, make them fire you. Way easier to get unemployment.
Grand_Cauliflower_88@reddit
Make your own note. Print out the urgent care heading. Write it yourself n sign it in some illegible way. They can't call n get any medical info about you. The urgent care can't even deny or confirm you have been seen. Start looking for another job. I been a supervisor a lot n if someone has been working somewhere for 5 yrs n never missed time I'm not asking any questions. You deserve better. Write yourself a note. Doesn't even have to be a real docs name. I hate employers that don't offer benefits like paid time off n health insurance.
ChrisBFRP@reddit
Your second sentence should tell you what to do. It's time for a better job. Let them fire you, collect unemployment benefits until you find a good job with full benefits. Why anyone would be loyal to a company that doesn't care enough to provide health coverage for their employees is beyond my understanding.

ProfessorB83@reddit
Fight it by playing dumb. I didn't know I needed a note. I called my doctor and I have an appointment in 5 weeks they'll sign anything you need then... use the bureaucracy against itself. If you say you're trying to comply they can't fight it

I've been working at an urgent care as front desk for almost three years and I've never had a single employer call and verify any work note. Usually urgent cares will refuse to do more than three days as that more or less falls into FMLA territory (and providers hate doing that and will usually refuse to unless Covid), but you could use that knowledge to legally obtain a note or just forge one from your nearest urgent care.
doublepulse@reddit
While working uninsured at a grocery store, one of my cats tripped me while I was carrying a forty pound basket of laundry- I smashed my left little toe into a door frame. It instantly turned black/purple and I legitimately could not handle going to work to unload trucks and stock shelves that night. I went to a little clinic and talked to the nurse practitioner there. I explained I didn't need an x-ray and that I understood she couldn't do much for me- I had the plan to keep it lifted and alternate ibuprofen and excedrin, ice it- but I needed a note to keep my job (which I escaped a few weeks later for a way better position.) She happily obliged and I got a note for three days off (added into my off days I had five days to recover.) Only cost $80.
7una@reddit
Tell the doctor you've had diarrhoea and didn't feel safe to drive, which is why you were delayed in visiting when actually unwell. Once you felt better you didn't see the need and now your employer is demanding a certificate.
Very much doubt any doctor I know would decline to backdate this, as long as you do it like today
minnesota420@reddit
Because of HIPAA, you can make a fake doctors note with the letterhead of the fake doctor (Google the doctor and the logo for the doctors office) and Google examples of doctors notes. Then make the signature really scribbly because doctors don’t have good hand writing.
allonsy_badwolf@reddit
Most of the hospitals and doctors where I am don’t even actually sign the notes anymore. It’s just printed out.
The ER notes don’t even have a name on them.
We rarely ask for notes except for the guys who miss 2-3 days a week always saying “sick.” Every week bro?
Or my favorite “why did you no call no show for 3 days?”
“My wife had surgery on Monday”
“You didn’t think to tell us? Or call? Or answer your phone? We thought you quit and terminated you.”
carlyhasfries@reddit
The real crime here is you've been working for this company for 5 years and they haven't insured you!? They don't provide insurance but demand a doctors not smh
Well if you don't want to fake one, urgent care takes patients without insurance. Usually, about 120-150$ for a visit. You tell the doctor you have the flu and that you're there for a doctor's note. They usually ask what days you need on the doctor's note and send you on your way.

I had something similar happen, I went to a Walgreens doctor and got a note from them. I just told them how I was feeling the last couple of days and I was feeling bad enough I couldn’t come in. The note only says “this person is to be excused” no reasons or explanations as to why because that’s not needed.
chrisrk912@reddit
One time I got to my old retail job, but as I was closing the door, I slammed my finger. I completely shattered it. Everything was a mess and a stranger saw me on the verge of passing out, and she helped me and took me to the hospital. Few days went by and I was told that I’ll be getting written up for not coming into work and that I need a doctors note. As soon as my manager put the write up slip in front of me, I literally laughed and slammed down my doctors note on top. I left two weeks later. Moral of the story is fuck the employer and fuck the manager. Get some form from online and scribble all over it. Fuck em.

Here in USA where people like me have no healthcare we are often required to get a return to work letter from a doctor in order to be excused for the days missed. It's horrible. ArtEclectic@reddit
A whole lot of doctors hate that there are companies like that. The fact they make people who are sick but doing fine recovering at home go out in public, take up appointment time, and have the doctor say "yep, you are sick, go home and recover"...they don't like that. You might get a bit of a snarky sounding note even. I'd go to a doctor (or video appointment one) and say you had the flu but didn't feel it was something that required a doctor but now are being told you did. Beg if you have to, but I doubt you will.
Mrtowelie69@reddit

Find a local walk in clinics logo online, then put it onto a random doc note pds you find and make a fake note. You can do it on your phone even, and go to the library to print it. twinkle90505@reddit
You can do an online doctor's visit right now and they'll write the note stating you were right to stay home from the initial date you were sick. Back when I worked in the service industry, I had an idea for a business that would provide doctor's notes for people because this bullshit "request" was always the norm. Anyway, you could register a business in the yellow pages or whatever, call it "XYZ Clinic" and rent out a closet at some place to post a physical address. That way, if the employer wants to look up the business, there's something for them to find. And of course, have someone on hand to answer a phone. But otherwise, use this as a front to offer low cost "Doctor's Notes" to people, sign that bitch with "Dr. Pepper" or something innocuous. Tell your boss, "Yes, my physician is actually named Dr. Feelgood, yes he knows how hilarious that is" - work it into your story.

its_the_smell@reddit
I think the doctor's note is just to prove that you're fit to return to work. So, go to urgent care or find a cheap clinic and lie that you were really sick and still a little sick but feeling better and need a note. They've likely had to write one before. Sure, it will cost some money to see the doctor, but it's better than being fired.
Zentavion@reddit
Can't genuinely help with your situation, but it reminded me of one I had. I was sick quite often at the end of my tenure at a job, almost once every other week for the last two months, I felt terrible, but I got a note each time. My boss called my doctor to verify if the notes were forged. I had never been a problem for my company prior to this, so when my doctor called asking if they could share my file I said "No." and quit shortly after. Terrible place to work.

There’s online pdf’s that you can use to get fake notes but my HR team has called and looked up the names of those doctors online to verify. Especially if they didn’t like the employee and didn’t buy their story.
You could also see a Dr at a 24 hour clinic and explain to them the situation and that might be able to help you out. That would probably be your best bet. See a doctor asap and let them know if you don’t get a note they will fire you. Some doctors won’t do it but a lot of doctors don’t care at all and are just going through the monotony of the job
WinstonGreyCat@reddit
You just need a note to return. Go to urgent care, tell them you had a stomach bug, you and 3 days of diarrhea a day of vomiting and it's down to twice a day of diarrhea. Quit your job. Any company willing to waste a doctor's time rather than give their employees the benefit of the doubt, only proves they don't care about your actual well being, they don't care about what a doctor has to do on a daily basis, and ultimately, it doesn't show great leadership to have to micro manage like that. If they can't survive without you for a couple days, then you should be running the show. Plain and simple. Like giving someone leverage while simultaneously telling them you don't trust them...
Put in your 2 weeks. Tell them you found work that pays $5 more. You may even get a raise out of it.
lookoutcomrade@reddit
I don't know about the doctor, but in the future get familiar with your workplace policies! You have to know the system you are working in-- in order to abuse it properly. If you only need a note after 3 days you could really abuse that two day policy.
