Ex-military people, were the boots you were issued good and who made them?

First things first, all boots are slightly different shapes and sizes so I can only give you my view on the ones that suited my feet. Also, it takes time for boots to get used to your feet so don't expect them to feel like comfy slippers straight away. The best boots I was ever issued were the Lowa ones I was given for for Afghan, I wore them every day for two different times out there and I still have the same pair now at home and I wear them walking. Really comfy once they were worn in and have taken a battering over the years. The Meindl ones were pretty decent but the sole wore out pretty quickly for me. Nice and comfy though. The Altbergs were pretty decent but I found them a little tight in the toe for me. Wore them every day for a year put there though so can't complain really.
