Why do people like Jeremy Clarkson so much?

I feel like he attracts a certain type of person.
He’s just a huge wanker imo and that was before he punched somebody over food.

Having met and had a good chat with him when he, James, and Richard did a tour to entertain deployed military many moons ago, he’s actually a genuinely nice guy and not at all like his “top gear” TV persona. He’s not perfect of course and has said and done some stupid things, but who hasn’t, he’s a human being just like the rest of us.
I’d say that what you see in Clarkson’s Farm is a much truer reflection of him as a person that too gear or the grand tour.

Stupid things like assault and racial discrimination
PineappleOk7951@reddit
What racial discrimination? He never said "that" word. Stop getting your news on social media and learn to think for yourself.

I don't know if I like him, I think he's a often bit of a dick (although I think it's a character). My wife feels the same way. Yet we both really like Clarkson's Farm. I don't even know why we started watching it but it's highly entertaining and even educational.

I know a few people, including my mum, who can't stand Clarkson but loved Clarkson's Farm, probably because he's (largely) just being himself and not Top Gear Clarkson.
I think a lot of people at first thought it was going to be like that with things catching fire and falling over. The only hint of that at first was him buying the "ridiculous" Lamborghini tractor, but in reality it wasn't actually a stupid decision - they're actually no more expensive or niche than most modern farm tractors, and as seen later in the series, you need a tractor that big on a farm that size.

The shed he tried to fit in was too small, that's all.

Worth remembering a lot of it is an act - if anyone is interested, read Richard Porter's book about Top Gear. Porter (runs the website Sniff Petrol) was almost the "Fifth Beatle" of Top Gear along with the three presenters and Andy Wilman.
Clarkson is described as highly intelligent, fiercely hard working, very caring of both his team and the end product, and generally a good person to get along with - quite the opposite of his loud, childish, boorish, arrogant act he puts on when on Top Gear. To the point the team were astounded when he punched a producer (as many noted, including James May, most people wouldn't have dared punch the guy in question and was testament to his professionalism he didn't punch Clarkson back). The whole "racism" thing was taken wildly out of context too and he never actually said the word in question.
Seems Clarkson is something of a "victim" of his own ridiculous TV persona, a cut-and-paste stereotype of a certain type of middle aged man that doesn't really reflect reality.

Yes, and all those positive qualities you mention you can see in Clarkson's Farm.
A lot of people who aren't Clarkson fans have surprised themselves by enjoying it.
It's very far from his Top Gear persona, and i think the sharper amongst us knew it was a persona.
People think he's racist, he isn't. People think he hates electric cars, he doesn't. People think he's sexist, he isn't.
PineappleOk7951@reddit
I'm a big fan of his, but I'm pretty sure he does hate electric cars. He made it very clear in the final special.
PineappleOk7951@reddit
I've also heard that both he and James are a lot more progressive than their on-air personas suggest. I love that in the final special he basically told his critics to go fuck themselves. Fuck the haters, they're generally people I despise anyway.

Because he gets facts across and dont care about whether people like it or not. He's not afraid to speak up his mind, unlike the woke world now, and he genuinely cares about things ( people based off his persona on top gear, which is, surprise surprise, just a TG persona 😐). If anyone dislikes him I suggest watching his interviews or anything really with him being himself and not jump into conclusions
SalsaBanditoJr@reddit
He's not a good person. I think he's vile to be honest.
