Taking off for the winters

Personally I wait for this time of the year to hit it hard. I hate the sun through glass, sweating. Clear sky with the sun in my eyes. Winter has long nights and not a lot of light days. Lot less people on the road. More beautiful scenery and more opportunity for wildlife (can be both good and bad). I always carry my snowboard gear and am ready to go ride. Having said all that there are some times that it absolutely sucks and can be dangerous if you dont know what you are doing and/or not prepared. You can't be the "my headlight is out, call road service type. You need to have shit and know how to use it. Warming pads. Emergency blanket. Lighter, shit to burn just in case. Don't ever let yourself get wet. I have the heaviest duty bumper so I'm not stopping for some deer. Dry food. Sardines/tuna in oil (doesn't freeze), etc.... Also, I have a decent amount of experience from growing up and loving/living in the snow. I made my name for myself delivering pizza and in the snow everyone called out except for me. I spun out, ripped off bumpers, ending up on the ditch, hit curbs in my car and got my experience in. Maybe I'm lucky that nothing bad has happened in my time in the snow in a semi truck. Maybe it's experience. Probably a combination of both. You need to know you can't control everything and sometimes it's better to stop. But sometimes stopping in the middle of it all isn't possible. Sometimes you're scared shitless and the right thing to do is go faster or the wind will blow you away. Now that I'm saying this out loud, maybe learning how snow/ice/slippery works shouldn't be learned in a semi truck, but should be experienced in a car and then that intuition applied when in a semi truck. I'm different though. Winters are for working and summers are for chilling on the beach where it's coolest and everywhere else is hell-like.
