Do you guys ever do fake American accents for fun?

When I was 16, my family moved from the UK to Australia. By age 15 I had tried to modify my own accent, practising in private for ages, to something like a BBC/Received Pronunciation accent after years of being teased for my accent (I'd pick one up quickly, the Canadian was the hardest to shift) whenever we moved to a new area (army brat). So I sound definitely English, with a bit of East Midlands and a bit of Home Counties in some words. My new maths teacher in the Aussie High School claimed he couldn't tell the difference between my accent and the extremely strong Glaswegian accent of another new girl. I have to admit, though, I can \*sometimes\* make a good guess as to what part of Aus a person might be from based on accent and \*maybe\* get a vague regional area right for some Murricans. So perhaps I shouldn't smirk at foreigners getting UK regional accents mixed up.
