Why are guys who work in small home improvement shops always divorced?

I'm not talking B&Q workers here, I'm talking about owner-operator home improvement show rooms, for example, a place that sells tiles, flooring, or mattresses. This morning I was talking to a middle-aged tile salesman, and he mentioned having done some work in his ex-wife's house. Then I realised that it seems there's always some ex-partner in the history here. Is there a micro-stereotype here?

Being divorced isn't that uncommon. It seems like you've met a couple blokes called John who wear blue shirts and have now reached the conclusion everyone called John wears a blue shirt.

Some of this is skewed by people with multiple divorces. Overall, less than 10% of UK adults are divorced and this is not even across socioeconomic groups.

The average age of a divorcee is 40-45, so I suppose it depends on your friend group According to the ONS, 7 in every 1000 people got married in 2020 8-9 people in every 1000 got divorced in 2020 Average length of a marriage is 6-7 years
