Why are guys who work in small home improvement shops always divorced?

I'm not talking B&Q workers here, I'm talking about owner-operator home improvement show rooms, for example, a place that sells tiles, flooring, or mattresses.
This morning I was talking to a middle-aged tile salesman, and he mentioned having done some work in his ex-wife's house.
Then I realised that it seems there's always some ex-partner in the history here.
Is there a micro-stereotype here?
