What do you use to clean your house?

I was cleaning up today and was looking at the products and cloths I was using and wondered if I had bought them because they were good OR just because that's what I have seen my folks use....and then I thought that I'm not actually sure I know HOW to deep clean properly or if I am using the products properly..... I'm planning an autum deep clean so tell me fellow redditors, what products do you rate and why? Any tips?

Viakal. Very good for getting surface limestone deposit off almost anything. Dishwashing brush, for scrubbing kitchen surfaces, sinks, anything with marks or dirt really. That and a bottle of spray cleaner, and a wet cloth to wipe up the loosened crap, will get a lot of dirt off surfaces, out of edges, etc.

We get a lot of limescale here so will look into Viakal. Is it good for most surfaces?

Yeah. Works on steel/chrome, enamel, tile, whatever resin crap my bathroom basin is made of, etc. It seems to work on any surface that water runs over. Protip: if the lower part of your bath, basin, etc, has scale deposits near the plughole then close the plughole and spray plenty of viakal around it, and leave it for an hour or two. Then scrub it with a brush and rinse it.

Citric acid for bathrooms toilets, ovens etc plus a good grout brush for tile joints and behind taps. Lemon juice/ white vinegar and micro fibre cloths for glass / mirrors / kitchen surfaces Zoflora disinfectant if I need to de-germ All cleaning cloths are washable and reused No carpets - rugs all machine washable

What mix ratio for the lemon and vinegar? Would it be different for floors Vs worktops?

It depends on what I've got available. Obviously lemon is much more expensive than vinegar but it smells better!! Floors need a stronger clean than work tops especially as we have dogs so heavy on the vinegar for floors but citric acid works too.

A lot of it is personal preference. One of my Go go is anything dettol. But I love zoflora as a disinfectant. The most underrated product I’ve used is the Astonish Mold and Mildew Blast 💥 👍

cif oven and grill spray is brilliant. they also do a great floor mop solution. other than that just dettol for sides/handles.

Really depends on the surface. Glass and mirrors - Windolene. Helps with the streaks. For everyday surface cleaning - hot soapy water. For weekly cleaning, varying ratios of lemon juice, vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, soap. If you want to vary the scent - essential oils.
