Changing name via deed poll - what to update first?

Has anyone else gone through this process? My understanding is I can create my own unenrolled deed poll and use that to get their name changed. However when looking at how to change my passport name, it suggested I needed a deed poll plus some other proof that I'm already using the name. So I was wondering for those who have been through the process, what order did you update your documents? Did you meet any resistance or places that wouldn't accept your unenrolled deed poll?

You can create your own deed poll but I chose to buy mine online. I immediately informed work, uni, DVLA and GP. Used my uni academic record (or whatever it was called) when updating passport as they were the first to give me something with my new name on it. My bank wanted to see my driving licence or passport to change my name, not just the deed poll. No point telling landlord until I updated the bank account since it could've caused confusion if my rent payments still had my old name. Showed the bank and the landlord my passport and they changed their records straight away.

how long did you have to wait to get your deed poll certificates back? I sent mine two weeks ago and would like to know how long to wait. Thank you
