He was scared later that his girlfriend would find out; I told him the only way she would ever know is if he told her. And when we performed that play, the audience saw a very real kiss. One of the college stage kisses was a gay guy, so that obviously wasn't interesting, and the other was cute and kissable, but it never went beyond the "professional" acting level. There's a reason actors who play the role of love interests often end up being real life love interests -- two good looking people who kiss each other tends to greatly increase the odds of more happening. So technically, it's just a kiss that is written into the script; and an actual stage kiss in front of an audience is not sexy or romantic at all; but still, if there's a slight personal interest in each other, "practicing" the kissing can and does happen; and among adults, it tends to be a lot more than a 30-minute highschool makeout session.
