I think people aren’t happy with the “Hamas, which is proscribed as a terrorist organisation by some Western governments including the UK” and would prefer the shorter snappier “Terrorist group Hamas”.

What's interesting about the BBC's stance is that they use the phrase "terror attack", but the perpetrators are "attackers" and not "terrorists". This is just the latest manufactured outrage at the BBC's expense. No-one was bothered by their editorial policy when reporting terrorist attacks on London, for example.

I just don’t bother anymore, the news is mainly negative and it jumps from one crisis to the next, there’s always a crisis now. I realised I can’t do anything about any of it, so I just stopped watching or listening, and am generally happier for it. I’ve still got Reddit and Facebook though so get a general synopsis about whatever the current topic that has made people angry is.

I'm avoiding the news from the Middle East at the moment as it's too distressing and there's literally nothing a South London pensioner can do or say to ease the misery on all sides. My news sources are The Guardian and the BBC. Neither are perfect but they are good about corrections and clarifications and also they're not behind a paywall. Yes, I know, TV Licence but it's fantastic value across many platforms.

Don't just read one. If you accept the UK media are bias then try dip your toe in some other bias'. Take your pinch of salt around the world! Read the world news section on RT, try Al Jazeera, Middle East Eye, look at what the Americans are saying. I think a good way to start seeing through bias is looking at lots of different bias. Read the same story but with each different bias and it's easier to identify which bits are truth and which bits are spin. Don't ever find a news source that is closer to your views and think ah lovely much less bias.

I signed up to [The Knowledge](https://www.theknowledge.com/) newsletter - it's a daily newsletter with some of the top stories, taken from multiple sources. As others have said, the only way to get an unbiased view of the news is to read multiple sources, and this is a convenient way to get multiple sources. Ideally, you'd be reading The Guardian, The Telegraph, FT, Al Jazeera, BBC, Sky News, The Times, The Independent, etc. but who has time for all that?

There's no such thing as an unbiased news source. If you think you find one, it's just that it reflects your own biases. The BBC's still pretty good for giving you a quick overview of what's going on but if you want to be informed, you need to read multiple sources.

If you really want an sort of unbiased view you need to read various sources, normally on both sides of an argument. Then you need to stop yourself from completely disregarding the bits you don't agree with and be willing to change your mind on topics that invoke a lot passion. But the neat part of the BBC is both sides complain that it's biased towards the other side, which means that it's pretty central. There will always be some bias depending on the authors, but it's damn close to the middle.

One of the newsnight presenters a couple of nights ago got shouted at twice in 10 minutes for being biased. Firstly from some IDF guy and secondly from a Palestinian doctor from an Arab-American university. He can take that as a sign he’s probably doing his job correctly. Tbh I find BBC coverage a real mixed bag - some of it can be quite even handed but I find the headlines and ticker lines on their news stories have a tendency to report primarily on what Israel are claiming or saying. That’s fine if viewers recognise it’s “claimed” or “said” but I reckon a lot of casual observers won’t make that distinction.

It's sad this got downvotes, worldnews is a massive echo chamber. I had to leave it before even though I agreed with most the views there it is too much when ever story is the same and people get so annoyed if you have even a slightly different view to them. It's basically full of "combat experts" who understand a lot about war because they watched some videos on combat footage getting mad at anyone who doesn't blindly agree with everything they say. Still I guess if you want to farm upvotes it's a good place.

I grab a Private Eye every fortnight and read through it. I don’t necessarily agree with every single stance of theirs (but most, I admit), but it’s written in a way that encourages you to think about the topic and look into it more with your own sources. Not so much spoon feeding from them, and it’s all quite witty and to-the-point

I swapped out BBC breakfast for CBeebies, I’ve got toddlers, and in all honesty Bing, Colour Blocks and Bluey leave me less outraged than listening to current events and I’m okay with that. Also doesn’t leave me wound up with anxiety to start the day. Although sometimes Bing can be a narcissistic little turd, no Bing Sharing is not a Bing thing.

Unfortunately you've got to work for it. BBC is mostly OK, but it definitely has some big issues, highlighted recently. It's really a case of reading multiple sources and discussing with people who's opinions you trust. Time helps as well, but that's not useful if you want to keep up with everything as it happens.

Not sure its possible. Try to get the feel of those who seem honest (if maybe sometimes naïve) and separate them from 'bad actors'. I'm finding some of the things from people like konstantin kisin, and its not a right or left thing (i am on the right), but its the willingness to pull up your own side and call them out. For things American Jesse Singal is incredible. And the abuse he gets because of it...

When reading online I prefer either the BBC or Sky, and that’s solely because they don’t absolutely bombard you with ads. You can’t scroll down any article without adverts just being everywhere and underneath every sentence, then one pops out at you, you accidentally click on it then won’t let you go back it gets on my absolute nerves
