I see that so much here, only everyone's talking about the servers etc. What's always been strange to me is that I don't see much of us here talking about ourselves that way. There's no doubt many of you understand that management sees us the same way, yet so, so many of you are almost militant anti-union, almost begging yourselves to be replaced with process. Amongst other duties, after building out the on-prem infra, virtualized, HA, SIEM, blah, blah and the managed ecommerce, security policies, etc., tuning it down to where it only requires a few deep status glance a week, I've been informed that they're looking into replacing my responsibilities in IT with "outside support" because they "understand it's a few hundred a month". Cattle, not pets, that's us.
