Growing food is pretty easy. It's a matter of setting up the right foods and having them ready so you're not just sitting on a soil patch for 2 months before you get anything.
So many people only plan for the first 2 weeks and never for the long term. Mention to them practicing primitive fire making or bush craft and they go silent. I know that wrangledstar knows his basic skills because of his original content, but most of the people that watch this will think a lifestraw and a gun will see them through anything.
For most people, just staying in shape and having good cardio would benefit them more than having a set of plates.

That's not as necessarily true today as it used to be.
There are new styles of plates that utilize ceramic and some crazy new plastics that have reduced the weight down significantly. Some are even as low as 4lbs a plate and still protect against large caliber projectiles.
The advice still applies. Fully loaded out with plates, mags, IFAK, and whatever odds and ends you're still looking at a 20+ pound load out with the current lightweight plates.

Ceramic plates are not as heavy, nor are they as sensitive that falling down while wearing them would break them, and they aren't as expensive as most of y'all's guns.

Get outside and train and have armor if you think someone might be shooting at you. They are not mutually exclusive ideas and concepts.

You seem to believe the government does everything, and not private businesses. Governments tend get in the way of everyday business, not facilitate it.
Government is only 2000-4000 years old (depending on who you ask) and for the extreme majority of that time it only existed to stop citizens from killing each other over disagreements, and to stop the people who speak funny and look different who live on the other side of the river from killing us.
Government that you depend on every day in order to get your basic needs fulfilled is only about a century old at most. If you take the necessary preparations you can absolutely return back to the way things used to be. A lot harder, but not impossible to survive by a long shot.
Will those private companies continue working when they stop getting paid, or when their employees start leaving to look after their own interests? Also there's the supply chain to consider, if they need anything to keep it running.
When the government stops paying that's also when people stop paying taxes, so what's likely to happen is people will quickly negotiate a deal to keep services running.
Where that fails, it is typically government preventing people from doing anything about it.

The people who manage water systems also use that water themselves for their families. They'll more than likely continue to do so and figure out compensation afterwards.

Partial collapse is absolutely doable and you can be fairly lazy about it too. You can buy a month's supply of food for one person that lasts 20 years in storage for only about $200. For water just buy a bunch of water bottles for cooking, bathing and drinking. Four 32 packs should last one person a month. Battery powered radio and solar charger to get news and you'll be set. Partial government collapses happen periodically all over the world from natural disasters or civil unrest and most people make it out.
Total government collapse is another story. You can also prep for that but it basically has to become your full-time hobby. Most importantly you'd need the money to buy all the equipment and set it up properly.

He has quite a large homestead with plenty of farming equipment and water collection storage and treatment capabilities. I'm already living somewhat off the grid as is. My water is treated here at home - I have two wells that can be operated by a hand pump. I have wood stoves and ample firewood supplies to heat my home through the winter. I have food stores, the ability to easily fish and hunt, and crops growing to keep ourselves fed. And I have the arms and abilities to defend all of that readily. What else does one need to survive?

I personally did two things, because Benchmade did two things that pissed me off. I went back to Buck and I also bought a Hogue knife. I'm a knife guy as well as a gun guy, so I have some other knives too of course, but Buck and Hogue are the main carries.

The second was that Benchmade used to have a deal with this guy Doug Ritter to make a knife called the Ritter Survival Knife (RSK). Basically a Griptillian or a minigriptillian with M390 steel and a unique blade shape that had a lot more belly to it. Ritter envisioned it as a pocket knife that would be sturdy enough to use in a survival situation. Ritter used the proceeds from this knife as the primary source of funding for his organization, Knife Rights, which is pretty much the GOA of the knife world. They go all over the country and challenge stupid knife laws in court or petition to have them repealed. Laws against automatics, laws against concealed carry, laws against knives over a certain length. Doug Ritter and his Knife Rights organization (which is essentially a one man operation) are the biggest force protecting knife rights. Pretty much any knife law that has improved has been directly caused by Doug Ritter.
Benchmade decided that they were gonna stop making the RSK with Doug's name on it, but they were gonna start making an extremely similar knife without paying him the royalties for designing it.
Doug Ritter approached Hogue, the made in USA grip manufacturer who had just gotten into the knife business, to see if they could make their own version of the RSK. Benchmade's patent on the axis lock had just expired, so Hogue happily ripped it off to support Ritter and Knife Rights and shove it in Benchmade's faces.

WranglerStar lives close by and is a fan of benchmade so he went against the grain and posted a video essentially telling people to get over it and itâs the way of the world and someone had to do it.
I remember when I first discovered Wranglerstar several years ago. Really liked his content; lots of cool info about axes and being a woodsman and older tools and outdoors gear and such. Suggested some friends/family check him out. Moved on to ohter things and didn;t think much of it until more recently came across one of his newer videos and... WTF? It's like night and day difference, guy went off the deep end. I'm not sure if he had some mental issue, or some major life stressor/event that changed his perspective, or maybe just got "famous" enough that he fell into the trap of sniffing his own farts and getting caught in his own hype, or maybe jsut sold out or something? I dunno, but the entire tone of his videos changed, his clothing changed it looks like maybe he had some 'work done'? It's like someone took Wranglerstar and kidnapped him to holywood where he got brainwashed and plasticized and sent back to tell us all about being a "pro HomO" or something (professional homeowner?!?!) and how you need this gimmicky thing off amazon to fend off the zombies in a GTFO TEOTWAWKI situation in the coming race war when the 5G mind virus kicks off, or something.
I now sit and wonder if any of my family ever clicked those links and watched his stuff, and now every time they see one of his videos they this "THIS is what cousin FapDonkey is into??" and I cry.
He didn't have work done. Around the time I stopped watching he got into eating healthy because he didn't like how his weight was progressing. He's lost a decent amount of weight and added the facial hair.

Exactly. MY first impression of him ws of someone in the vein of Essential Crafstman or something. Guy with a bit of an old-school take on things who knew his tools and had some neat insight into his particular trade (logging/forestry). Apparently THAT didn't last long lol

Same thing that changed in a lot of right-wing people the last decade or so. They fell for the conspiracies and the nonsense and turned into fucking crazies. My own father is always rambling about "the end of days" because he spends too much time watching bullshit like this on Youtube and Tiktok.
You'd be FAR better off in almost all scenarios by being in good shape, having any kind of gun, some great camp gear, and enough food/water to last a few weeks.

Wranglerstar. His channel originally was geared towards things like homesteading and forestry, hanging axes, hand tools, sometimes branching into gear he used for wildland firefighting. I havenât watched it for a while and he seems to have taken a turn towards prepping.
I was trying to be kind of nice about it. I havenât watched any of his videos since like 2016 so I donât know exactly how far out in crazy land heâs gotten.
I stopped watching him years ago, but he had a phase where he started posting super clickbait content and was bitching and moaning about someone stalking him.
Itâs was years ago and he might have changed since. But I stand by what I said.
Being necessary for success doesnt make it any less obnoxious. There's a certain type that's tolerable, where they at least tell you what's in the video. But most of it is the shitty vague garbage that's just going for clicks. And there's a subset of people including myself who will just unsubscribe to creators who make it every title in their content. I did it for Linus tech tips a while back. My favorite firearm story from Wranglerstar is not to long ago he said he had dinner with his sister then took her back home where she lives is half an hour away from him. When he got home his house lights were on and a car he didn't recognize was their. What he wanted to do was go confront the intruder, but didn't plan to call anyone and was going to leave his 3 year old daughter alone buckled in the truck. His plan was foiled by the fact in his panic he forgot how the pistol lock box in his truck worked, but turns out the intruder was his sister who supposedly rushed back hafter being dropped off because she forgot something. Wether he was telling truth or not he definitely doesn't seem prepared...
