What is it like working as a postie?

Hey everyone, I have wanted to be a postie for years now and at my nearest centre a "postperson with driving" has came up. Its 16 hours a week on Saturday and Sunday so the hours are really good for me too. I mainly wanted to ask those of you that have been a postie what your experiences of the job were? With the current state of things and Royal Mail would you suggest it to someone? I am not looking for a job for life. Just something I can stick in at and enjoy until I get into the ambulance service. Right now I am working in retail and hate it. I really like the idea of having a more active outdoor job and also the lone working is a benefit for me too since I hate a lot of people around me all day which is why I want to get out of retail ASAP
