We should be clear that anti-Zionism isn't antisemitism.
WeepingAndGnashing@reddit
“We should be clear that white supremacy is not racism.”
Really splitting hairs there, my dude.
D_Inda_B_4Free@reddit
It’s really not, anti-Zionism is an opposition to the state of Israel basically, you know since there were already people living there when the Jewish people moved in and took the land. I’m saying this as a Jew myself, I understand the conflict is 1000 fold more convoluted and delicate than I’ve just explained, but there is absolutely a huge difference between anti-Zionism and antisemitism.
WeepingAndGnashing@reddit
Can you flesh this out a bit?
lilbluehair@reddit
Israel is just a country. Nationalism is bad no matter where you live
dionyszenji@reddit
The post itself is anti-semitic as Palestinians are Semitic. If you want consistency of policy, you should remove the post which characterizes Palestinians in a negative light and as the aggressors. This is inaccurate in the big picture.
bendallf@reddit
The trick here is not to pick a side. Both sides have suffered enough already. It is time to help give advice to help save lives at the end of the day. Period. It is not time to play who started it first. Thanks.
Exotemporal@reddit
I pick the side of the innocent civilians. I've always been sympathetic to the Palestinian cause even though my girlfriend is Jewish. I despise Israel's far-right. I loathe the fact that Israeli settlements keep getting built in the West Bank. However, nothing Israel has ever done can justify, excuse or explain this attack or any of the thousands of acts of terrorism ever perpetrated against Israeli civilians. These monsters have lost all semblance of humanity. They don't deserve to live and those who support them don't deserve peace.
bendallf@reddit
An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind. People commit terrorism because they know no one in power will listen to them and come to their defense. The Jewish People were in the same boat as the Palestinians in regard to the British. The IDF is form from several terrorist organizations. It was not the Palestinians who blew up the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. I guess we never learn from past mistakes? Thanks.
TheOneTrueObama1@reddit
An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind, except the last guy who still has one eye.
bendallf@reddit
If you disagree with my point of view, that is fine by me. We are human after all. I ask that you explain your position further rather than just downvoting me please. We are all here to learn from each other here so we can help to build a better world together. Thanks.
Exotemporal@reddit
I didn't downvote you and said all I have to say.
bendallf@reddit
So who did? Lets say the British stayed there in Palestine aka Israel. Things would be quite different today. That's for sure. Take care.

are we allowed to have an anti zionist view. I do not dislike Jewish people, and honestly i could care less who occupies those regions- and it is up to them to fight it out. I see no reason to support a jewish state in that region. IF they want it they can fight for it.

Yes.
Make sure you buy at least a few weeks of food for you and your family, perhaps even enough to distribute to others. Buy enough water to last for at least a month. Preferably more. Enough to drink, brush your teeth, and hopefully do at least some cooking with.
Keep the containers and use them to collect rainwater later once your bottled water supply runs out.
Make sure to buy shelf stable food that will last for some time, and hopefully that you do not need to cook, or can cook very easily. Such as cans of food, or things like oatmeal, granola, protein bars, peanut butter, beef jerky. Anything you would take to eat on a long camping trip.
Also go to the camping section and buy LifeStraws or something else to purify any water you manage to collect:
This is a LifeStraw:
https://www.amazon.com/LifeStraw-Personal-Camping-Emergency-Preparedness/dp/B0CFYJ8YZL
There is a good chance your local camping section will have them.
Also, these are water purification tablets:
https://www.99boulders.com/best-water-purification-tablets
If nothing else, if you can gather wood, including furniture from your home and your community that people do not absolutely require, you can create a fire to boil water with and purify it that way. If you do that, try to do that as a neighborhood/community, with a big enough pot for everyone to collect some, since they will likely be contributing furniture or whatever wood they can find to it.
If you have gas appliances, make sure you have enough fuel.
You can cook with a camping stove such as this one:
https://www.amazon.com/GS-3400P-Portable-Backpacking-Emergency-Preparedness/dp/B01HQRD8EO/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?c=ts&keywords=Backpacking+%26+Camping+Stoves+%26+Grills&qid=1696725577&s=outdoor-recreation&sr=1-9&ts_id=3400941
Make sure you use the appropriate fuel that is compatible with it. It is potentially dangerous if you do not.
Likewise, your store’s camping section may have a spirit burner, such as this:
https://www.backcountrygear.com/spirit-burner/
This can create a fire to cook small things using almost any type of alcohol, including rubbing alcohol and more pure liquors like vodka. Be extremely careful after you light it. The flame is often invisible, but can still burn you.
Make sure to check on your neighbors, relatives, and friends. The only way you are getting through this is as a community.
Since we are in autumn, and nobody knows how long this will last, make sure you have enough blankets and layers of clothes to keep warm.
If it does start to get cold and you have lost power and heat, hang blankets up in your hallways and doorways that you can’t close, and either hang blankets, or tape sheets of plastic or cellophane wrap around your windows to help keep heat in. It may be a good idea to cover your windows anyways, to keep anyone from seeing inside.
Search your market for a hand cranked radio to keep up with the situation. Especially try to look for one that also acts as a mobile device charger. Some of them may even be solar powered.
For example, if you see something like this, fucking steal it:
https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiIkpfPmOWBAxUlm1oFHX78A6UYABAIGgJ2dQ&ae=2&gclid=CjwKCAjwg4SpBhAKEiwAdyLwvOzDwZt1lyQ-eLiGsjeqmohTDLuxnjvOepnnxxlEZ8BnaKksEeCHJRoCis4QAvD_BwE&sph=&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESeuD2Q2N_qjAlaHugH1dpK6bNbVX6H0EFQq6G-xqTeD2RmJR_uUjbEXSjGweVhT8P9kSZOY6J2Gub4KVyHYAP_OPN4FcvTJ7hPHFTap7tbvglxHr7awcSRENjWeLNq1-AOTycH5Ye6VWYEeWW0bx9QEdRXd8Ta35bW7D3&sig=AOD64_3cqBGEmR_v_d13D6dqA5zv-z7WWw&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwi89I7PmOWBAxULFlkFHWF0AP0Qwg8oAHoECAUQDA&adurl=
Also, make sure you are stocked up on first aid supplies. Including tourniquets, chest seals, and bandages, as well as other supplies to treat people injured by gunshots or shrapnel from rockets. At least to whatever extent you can.
This is a guide to how to make an Individual First Aid Kit, or IFAK:
https://mymedic.com/blogs/journal/how-to-build-an-ifak
It is very likely too late to get ahold of much of these supplies, but literally anything you can get is better than not having it.
Are people in Israel allowed to own guns? I assume you are an adult, and have been in mandatory military service before? If you have this, you may very well need it.
Organize as many people with police and military experience in your area as possible to protect themselves.
Contact the police or military in your area, and get them to help you establish a community defense if you can. If not, find whatever weapons you can get ahold of.
Set up patrols and checkpoints around your area, with people constantly in communication with each other through cell phones or radios, and a way to signal alarms if someone needs help or if Hamas attacks. Make sure every one of these groups has battery chargers for their devices.
If Hamas does attack, and your community does decide to fight, try to get them in an area where you have an advantage and they don’t.
Somewhere where you can ambush them.
Or a choke point where you can attack them from multiple directions, while they are forced together in a small space.
Or a underneath a building or bridge where people positioned on the roof can throw heavy objects onto them. In the third case, throw everything heavy that you can, as hard as you can, and be as fucking angry as possible.
Whatever you do, you are trying to kill these people, because they will not hesitate to kill you.
If you have petrol, rags, styrofoam and bottles you can make Molotov cocktails.
Here is a link from a Ukrainian website on how to make them:
https://zaborona.com/en/bandera-smoothies-for-putins-friends-how-to-make-a-molotov-cocktail-basic-recipes-and-life-hacks/
Also, establish challenge and answer words between you and your friends. Make sure everybody knows these before you move to any location, or station anybody anywhere.
For example, if you see someone you do not recognize, you would shout “Mercedes!” Then that person would shout “Benz!” This is to make sure this person is someone you know. Pick two words, it does not matter what, but make sure everybody you are working with knows exactly what they are.
Also, establish some form of signal which everybody understands for if an area is under attack, someone is wounded, and so forth.
For example, the use of smoke signals, light signals using lanterns or flashlights, or flare guns. If you are able to get ahold of any, which I do not expect is the case.
Do not try to be visible unless you absolutely have to. Stay off the street if you can, and try not to travel during daylight when you are easily seen.
In the Battle of Fallujah, US forces would regularly knock down walls in order to move between buildings and avoid going out into the street due to how dangerous it was. If your area has storm drains, some people may be able to travel that way. As crazy as it may seem in normal times, these are not normal times.
Whatever you do, stay safe, stand alongside the rest of your area as part of a team and a community, do not be stupid, and God be with you OP.

It’s unreasonably expensive (my experience has been many things imported to Israel are) but it will get the job done. You can get solar panels for it as well if you have balcony or ground space with exposure to the sun.

The absolute lack of empathy in some of these comments. Maybe don't blame the average citizens for what's committed by their governments. Do you agree with everything your government does? Would you be if your government did some f'd up stuff? Have you been able to do anything about the f'd up things your government has already done? Do you feel you should be murdered for something your government did? Most people have little to no control of where they live. Average citizens, regardless of country, do not deserve the damages that come with war.

Absolutely. Anti-Zionism isn’t anti-semitism. It’s a sad day that we can’t support an oppressed people, displaced from their homes, under apartheid government, and facing a lengthy genocide without the State of Israel and its defenders trying to label us as anti-semitic. The Israelis oppress Jews and Christians within Palestine as well. They oppress Ethiopian Jews within occupied Israel. This isn’t about religion, it’s about settler-colonialism and self-defense from ethnic cleansing.
I’m sure that 99% of this sub would fight back if they were treated like the residents of Gaza and the West Bank as well. God forbid, some settler move from Poland or Belarus to come take their home in Kansas at gunpoint. A home they have lived in for millennia.

I don't have much experience to offer, but I do live in a country that doesn't have the regular access to amenities that america takes for granted, so I know a lot of the suggestions being made in this post will not be practical.
Collect rags. I don't know how common paper towels are there, but they're kind of a luxury thing here. I use cloths to clean and they can be useful for a lot. Get matches- they're cheaper and go further than lighters. Maybe a couple lighters just for in an emergency.
Buy iodine, antiseptic alcohol, or peroxide. Baking soda and vinegar are good for a lot of hygiene emergencies and are cheap. Collects all the water you can, of course. Do not tell anyone you have it. This seems cruel, but people are not generous in crisis. If this goes on even a few days more than expected, people will be one unpredictable and dangerous. So behave as expected- even if you have food or water stores, make a trip to buy some so you can be seen doing it. Act like you're struggling as much as anyone.
I would fortify your shelter as best you can. Collected cloths, bandages, gauze, anything you can. Buy a lot of ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Basic bar soap, maybe some laundry bar soap. Get all your laundry and dishes done, think about how you'll prepare food if power goes. Do you know how to make a fire? Cook over one? Focus on canned or dried goods.
Buy salt and sugar, even just a couple bags. You can make an electrolyte drink in a pinch, and hydration is crucial. Salt is also very good for cleaning and in a real emergency, a saline solution can be prepared for a fairly safe wound cleanser.
At least one decent small power bank, maybe solar if you can. Better to get one decent one than several cheap ones- I know from experience. Try to have a spare phone charger or two. Log out of personal accounts in case, heavens forbid, you lose it and can't quickly access internet to protect your information. Don't forget emails and bank accounts! Log out of EVERYTHING.
Again, I'm so sorry for what you're going through. This is truly a nightmare. God willing it will go quickly, and you will be blessed with the knowledge of how to be more thoroughly prepared in future and can educate others as well.
Pray, pray, pray. Have faith in the Holy One. He will preserve what is His. I will pray for you 🤍
keridwenx@reddit
Also, don't underestimate small normalities. Buy a couple sodas you like. Dark chocolate has antioxidants that are good for binding to free radicals which you'll have more of when under extreme stress. Buy a bag of chips if you can. Something you like.
Read books, play board games. Do art. Stay busy as long as you're not in immediate danger. God willing you won't have to flee your dwelling. Don't let yourself go crazy with anxiety and worry.
fbcmfb@reddit
I know enough about both sides to stay the fuck out of this mess.
My wife and kids are Jewish. My in-laws aren’t good people due to their disapproval of her marrying a non-Jew, who happens to be black. They have referred to me as a “ebed”, Hebrew for slave, as an insult. I didn’t convert to Judaism because of this bullshit.
In laws refused to be at the hospital for my daughter’s birth because I would be there, in-laws have been terrorists to my wife to a degree that we didn’t even mention we were having a second child. Also, when my wife’s grandmother died they didn’t tell her - even though my wife made contact during the last day of her grandmother’s life. My wife has made some peace, because she saw her grandma a few days before her passing and our daughter met her great grandmother. They buried her grandma within a day and didn’t tell my wife. She found out from an old family sending condolences. How much hate does someone need to have to do that?
My wife’s heart is with Israel, but I have to remind her that her own kids and I may get different treatment in that country. There was a recent video of some Jewish people walking and then spitting at a Christian group carrying a cross.
This conflict is unfortunate, but there are many players and factions that have helped get to this point. If you haven’t prepared … what have you been doing all this time?
FYI - My wife’s former rabbi (in-laws current rabbi) live in a multi-million dollar home and the rabbi’s children live in their own multimillion homes. They are doing just fine - let them assist with aid. Remember religious organizations have tax exempt status in America.

that's how you die first when they invade your house . You're not a fucking Batman , you might shot 1 or 2 guys but others will kill you if you get invaded . Guns are worthless . Food and basic needs though are the most needed ones to fulfill. You can't use guns if you're starving .
Rifleman80@reddit
There's a couple of houses and a truck of insurgents jumps out to assault them.
The first house apparently has people with firearms inside, the 2nd doesn't. Which do they attack more easily? Duh...
Trick-Independent469@reddit
The ones that are a bigger threat for them . e.g the ones with guns . Since they don't know which house has guns when they try to enter inside and you shoot back it's clear that their first priority is to eliminate the threat , they wouldn't risk to let you live and come and attack them later . Duh...

Guns are not the only weapons. Knives, hammers, axes, pepper spray, etc. Even a long piece of metal rebar could help. Realize it's not the soldiers that will be the only threat. Those with little resources will fight you for your food and water. Life long friends can be bitter enemies when one is starving and the other is not willing to share. With everything going on the cops will be stretched thin so don't expect them to help.

You need:
Water, food, shelter, temperature control.
Those four things mean ongoing survival.
Get as much water as you can and food. Bags of rice, bags of beans, anything. It’s likely already looted.
If you can walk out of the area, start walking.
You need 2liters per person per day of water, 2400calories of food per person per day.
Layers of clothing for cold, shade for heat.
Find matches and lighters and hoard them.
After that, you need:
A multitool or your strongest small knife and a pair of sturdy scissors. A screwdriver. Pliers.
First aid, light, sanitation (bathroom), comms/nav, and electrical.
Grab any and all bandages, cleanser, sewing items, and tape you can find (duct tape is good).
Get a shovel/trowel/hand shovel. Get rolls of toilet paper and hide them. Pee anywhere, poop, dig a hole hold your nose squat, bury.
A crank flashlight charger is a good item. Otherwise, plug in all external chargers you have and hoard them.
After that:
Morale, defense, trade
Cards, a good book, coloring for the kids
Firearms, fighting knife, camo to hide
Lighters, toilet paper, chargers, canned goods, matches, bullets, candy, alcohol/booze.

LMAO! America was a land of no government. This land had nomads roaming from buffalo grazing ground to buffalo grazing ground. As it looks like Hamas is going out of their way to attack civilian populations, I would also like to add, have your vehicle fueled and. Have your bags packed. Pre-plan a route to leave your town or city, and practice driving that route. Make a secondary emergency route, and drive it if you can. Figure out a foot route. If you hear that they're coming towards your town or location, book it. Don't wait.
LoveOfficialxx@reddit
At this point, I think the most effective thing you can do is prep a bug out bag. A couple of changes of clothes, dried or preserved foods, a tool kit, first aid kit (definitely some clotting powder), and make sure you pack your passport/documents.

Public water utilities frequently use chlorine (aka bleach) to disinfect public drinking water.
Followyourtroves@reddit
The assertion that public water utilities use bleach, which is a form of chlorine, for disinfecting drinking water, requires nuanced interpretation. While sodium hypochlorite, known as bleach, is a chlorine compound, equating all chlorine-based disinfection with household bleach oversimplifies the complex landscape of water treatment.
The references provided mostly discuss the use of bleach for emergency disinfection, tailored to specific scenarios like natural disasters or for homeowners dealing with well water. Such guidelines are critical in emergencies but are not indicative of standard practices for public utilities. They emphasize precision, underscoring that even slight miscalculations in bleach concentration can compromise both safety and disinfection efficacy.
Moreover, these emergency measures do not negate concerns about disinfection byproducts. When chlorine, in any form, reacts with organic matter in water, it can produce compounds like trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs). These byproducts, even if formed in minute quantities, have health implications over prolonged exposure.
Water treatment plants employ a spectrum of methods and chemicals, with the choice dictated by water sources, conditions, regulatory standards, and local challenges. While bleach can be part of this toolkit, it's essential to remember that it's one of many tools, each with its considerations and constraints.
In essence, water disinfection, whether for a large community or an individual household, is a multifaceted domain. While bleach plays a role in certain contexts, understanding its proper use and limitations is crucial. Simplifying or generalizing its application risks misinforming the public and potentially compromising water safety.
EffectiveSecond7@reddit

Millennial_on_laptop@reddit
It's what I use at work (a ship with it's own water tank) with the proper dilution calculations.
Municipalities use it too because we test the chlorine levels before we take it onboard and it always has a measurable level.
Followyourtroves@reddit
Using bleach, or sodium hypochlorite, with precise dilution in specific contexts, like on a ship, is understandable for disinfection purposes. However, it's essential to note that while municipalities do use chlorine-based compounds, the treatment process in large-scale facilities involves multiple steps beyond mere chlorination. Moreover, the "measurable level" of chlorine in municipal water is maintained for residual disinfection throughout the distribution system. While bleach can be part of water treatment, the nuances and complexities of public water treatment shouldn't be overlooked or oversimplified by equating it solely to bleach addition.
Present-Mood-45@reddit
Untrue. You can use 8 drops of 6% bleach or 6 drops 8% bleach to disinfect 1 gallon of water. Stir and let sit overnight before drinking. You just need to do it properly.
Followyourtroves@reddit
It's important to provide clarity on the topic of bleach disinfection. While the method described, using specific drop counts of bleach to disinfect a gallon of water, may be rooted in guidance for emergency situations, it's crucial to distinguish between emergency disinfection and routine, large-scale water treatment.
The procedure you've detailed seems to echo emergency disinfection guidelines, often recommended during natural disasters or in situations where regular water treatment infrastructure is compromised. In such circumstances, the goal is immediate pathogen neutralization to prevent waterborne diseases. However, this method is typically not recommended as a long-term solution or as a daily practice.
Public water treatment is a more intricate process than merely adding bleach. Municipal facilities need to cater to vast populations and often have to deal with a range of water sources, each with its unique set of contaminants, organic content, and challenges. In addition to disinfection, they manage particulate removal, hardness adjustment, pH balancing, and more. Furthermore, the chlorination process in municipal setups is carefully calibrated to ensure that residual chlorine remains in the system to prevent pathogenic regrowth while minimizing the risk of harmful disinfection byproducts.
Moreover, the formation of disinfection byproducts such as trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs) remains a valid concern. These can form when chlorine reacts with organic matter in the water. While the risk might be minimal with occasional bleach disinfection, it's a significant consideration in routine water treatment, especially given the health implications associated with prolonged exposure.
In summary, while bleach can be employed for emergency disinfection of drinking water, equating this practice with the multi-step, calibrated processes of municipal water treatment oversimplifies the complexities involved. Understanding the context and constraints is vital to ensure water safety and to inform public practices correctly.

First off, it seems, very understandably so, that you're quite upset. Try to calm your mind, and focus on the current moment you're in. It's not easy, but it's imperative. There are basics, such as weapons for defense, water, and food, that you should focus on acquiring if you have not already done so. Realize that you really have no control over anything other than your self, and what you do. In other words, don't let your fears take over your mind. Try to find a way to receive news or communication about what is exactly going on with the war. Work on a plan to get to the safest place you can be. I wish you luck, and I will pray for you.

At minimum - fill any spare bottles or buckets with drinking / tap water as any damage to water pipes can interrupt service or cause a boil-water advisory. If you have household bleach (plain unscented, not anti-splash) it can be used to disinfect water for drinking or can be used to make a cleaning / disinfecting solution for food prep surfaces.

1) water is most important, obtain and store as much as you can; 2) weapons. Any weapons. If you don’t have access to a gun or knives, look around your home and gather anything you can comfortably hold and wield; 3) communications. Keep all electronics charged, get a handheld radio if possible. Write down contact info for emergency contacts and keep your ID and passport on you in case you need to leave quickly; 4) first aid; 5) food, protein and carbs, any items that don’t need refrigeration; 6) pack a go bag with a change of clothes and any necessities in case you have to run; 7) flashlights; 8) keep your lights off, stay quiet, try to leave access to any window you have that can give you a view of the street, and preferably that you can leave out of if your doors aren’t usable due to attack; 9) pack several pairs of clean socks in case you have to leave, I can’t emphasize enough how important fresh socks can be for you if you have to get mobile.
Stay inside, coordinate with neighbors for attack plans or help if possible, barricade doors and windows with any furniture you can. Don’t leave unless you absolutely have to. Try to determine if your local officials have a designated safe location for citizens to evacuate to if fighting is close. Your government and military are well equipped to drive this enemy out, I expect to see them get control over the situation sooner rather than later. I hope you and your loved ones stay safe, all of my family and friends here in the US are eager to see a quick end to this war and peace in Israel.

Limit your phone calls to essential phone calls only, and only call First Responders if someone is seriously injured, or a building is at risk of collapsing or is on fire.
Cell phone networks will likely be under tremendous strain, particularly if a tower is hit.
With first responders, they're probably being inundated with emergency calls, and there may be lengthy delays to speak with a dispatcher. Every phone call not going to a dispatcher is a phone call that can go to someone else who is in immediate need.

Non-perishable foods (canned foods and preserves) and toiletries/hygiene kits. Water filters and charcoal tablets too. A good wool blanket as well. Any over-the-counter medications like painkillers
Common equipment like tape, paracord, and multitools. Lots of batteries. You might also be able to find a hand-crank/solar powered emergency radio. You are going to want to keep updated on how your country is faring.
If you expect to be without power, invest in a small wood stove that’s also portable. I’d also recommend a tarp for multiple uses, but primarily as a quick shelter if needed, using the paracord to tie it up.
Get the best rated respirator you can find for smoke and gases. Eye protection as well.
You’re going to want to have an extra bag packed in case you need to make an immediate exfil from wherever you’re hunkered down. But do not leave a safe place in search of something better unless you absolutely have to.

I've never been in a situation where I thought to myself "shit, sure wish I didn't have this quality piece of sharpened steel handy". And weirdly enough, a rugged watch. broomsticks or mop handles can be used to help defend yourself
most vulnerable areas to hit are eyes, nose, throat, groin, and knees.
If someone has guns and tries to kidnap you, you are safer trying to run away than getting in their vehicle. Even if you get shot, many people survive gunshot wounds. Most people do not survive kidnappings and torture.

How would this be a World War?
Isreal will go kill a ton a Palestinians, and that will be it...Until Isreal ends Apartheid, and Hamas will end terrorist acts, this will go on and on...but nobody will be pulled into a World War. Nobody seems to care about Palestinians, and Isreal has the military to do whatever they want.
paracelsus53@reddit
Oh the poor darlings, firing thousands of rockets onto civilian targets. I believe the Koran actually forbids killing civilians during wars.
scott_majority@reddit
Do you think it is the poor Palestinian people firing the rockets?
paracelsus53@reddit
I think poor Palestinian people support Hamas. And because of this bullshit, now the pig Netanyahu will have more support than he did.
scott_majority@reddit
Some Palestinians do...some don't. Palestinians have nobody fighting for them except Hamas. Hamas also provides much needed food aid and medical care, so it's no wonder they have support.
Regardless, the Palestinian people are in the middle...and they are the ones that will suffer the most.

All these conflicts flaring up, is leading to something bigger, that's what my gut tells me, just something is off and has to give

A World War develops when many countries have interest in a particular outcome...This specific conflict has been going since Isreal became a country. Palestinians don't even have a military, so there will be no world conflict.
Famous-Rich9621@reddit
That's not what I'm on about, I'm on about a whole host of countries recently that have either fallen to coups or are on the verge of war, uptick in violence in Kosovo again, then there's Azerbaijan Armenia Serbia etc mass refugees with nowhere to go and nobody that wants them not to mention all the natural disasters we have had this year, prayers especially go out to Libya on that one, just feels like things are slowly starting to fall apart, and we all know China is next to go to war, with all the media hyping it up and normalising it, live in a crazy crazy world and there's sweet f all we can do about it, so might as well spark up a j sit back and watch the mushroom clouds

This is episode 23,467 of the never-ending Israel/Palestine conflict. Just another Tuesday, er, Saturday.
If I were worried about something - and I’m not - it would be Russia. They’ve been shown to be a paper tiger; all the corruption have hollowed out their military. Putin’s doomed and Russia’s economy will collapse (again).
But I doubt it will expand beyond Ukraine; Ukraine has proven to be more than Russia can handle.
If Russia insanely attacked NATO, that war would be over in a hurry. It wouldn’t last years like WW1 and WW2.
So no, we’re not headed to WW3. Not any time soon anyway.
RockyMountain_Jeeper@reddit
I wouldn't suggest this will directly lead to something larger but certainly the more hot conflicts start popping up the closer we get.
Putin is wondering how he can get his hand in this somehow. Any drain on western resources work in his favour.

After things settle down, prepare for next time. There will definitely be a next time.
You’ve now experienced what it’s like to not be prepared. It sucks. But you can be prepared for next time.
After reading the suggestions here, take a moment to focus on your actual situation - what you’re experiencing right now - and what preparations would have made you feel more secure.
Later, make it a priority to make those preparations; remember what it feels like now without them.
Most preppers have some life event hammer home the need to prepare for whatever risks they face. Hurricane, earthquake, lengthy power outage, whatever. Fortunately, most of us don’t have to worry about being invaded by an enemy, I’m sorry that you have to!

Clean water is literally the most important thing they can have to stay alive.
You can go weeks without food. You can deal with being cold. You’re dead in three days without water. Which is assuming you can stay calm, and don’t have significant stress or exertion, which would just kill you faster.

“Don’t troll my thread” ARE YOU f’ing KIDDING ME?
I have dozens of relatives and friends who are actually dealing with this right now - but none of them is asking “what they should do” on a social media site- because everyone in Israel has plans in place. Unless you just moved to Israel yesterday, you’re well prepared for this situation.
Every living space in Israel is required to have a shelter. If you live in an apartment building, it’s large enough for everyone in the building. Plus it contains many days of supplies. I don’t know if you’re playing games are looking for sympathy, but you need to stop. And if you sincerely don’t know what you should be doing I suggest you ask somebody in your apartment building instead of trolling on social media sites for sympathy.

The current training for active shooters in the US is run, hide, fight.
Run if you can. The IDF can go toe to toe with the terrorists, you don’t want to. Plan escape routes if you can. Plan some basic supplies to take with but keep it light. Speed will keep you alive.
Hide if you can’t run. I would try and scope out some hiding places if your building is compromised.
Fight if you must. This will be last resort and if you decide you have to do this commit to it. Start the fight and keep fighting until one of you isn’t moving. Don’t fight fair. Bite, kick, twist balls, gouge eyes, shoot a fire extinguisher in the face (that powder is nasty and incapacitating in the eyes), do anything you have to.
I wish you the best. Jesus this is scary but keep your head on you. ALWAYS take 10 seconds to take in a situation before acting. If you run, run to cover and take a breath and reassess. Then run again. Running gives tunnel vision and you can run into something bad without thinking about it.

Most other tips are pretty good already. Also those concerning weapons.
You can also make very simple Molotov cocktails. There is a detailed description on wikipedia. If you are going to throw them, do not throw them overhead, use an underhand throw like you would in bowling. That way you won't set yourself on fire if the wick slips out and you spill the liquid. The best way to use them is to target open vehicles with people on them. Leave armored vehicles to the professionals.

get all of your impportant stuff/docs together, and on your person [in case you need to move quickly! ]
focus on the basics - water, food/vitamins [easy /small portables things ] - you can live with out food for a month ; only like 3 days w/o water! fire/cordage/shelter/axe/knife [in case you end up on the move ] - fire to cook, or purify water . WATER is the most important thing ..
might help to have a solar battery/charger for your devices, flashlight, communication device/ walkie talkie/radio .. later on focus on getting your own stuff for personal protection .

Hope you and your family is safe.

What type/size of home/structure do you live in? Are you in a multi-story apartment complex, traditional 2-story home?
V0XP0PUL1@reddit
Shelter: Get away from weak structures. Staying in crumbling structures will put everyone at risk. Take care of the elderly and the young.
Water: If you have water storage tanks, use clean bleach to purify it. If you have solar panels, boil it, sieve it and store it. If water is dirty, use multiple layers of clothes to filter out any dirt.
Fire and light: Any flammables should be stored properly. Do not expose them to the enemy. Distribute them, do not store them at one place.
SOS: Get radios, rubber tires that can be burnt to signal for help.
Medical supplies: If it is safe, and you are in an area where conflict happened, arrange a search party that can retrieve weapons and medical supplies.
While most countries have verbally condemned, we don't know when actual help could be sent to Israel. Till help arrives, God and you yourself are the only ones that can help you. During this crisis, presence of mind and calmness will be your true strength. Sometimes, compromises have to be made, be ready for those as well for survival. Look for the long term.
Inventory everything. Do NOT put all resources at one place. Disperse.
tzippora@reddit
Try to contact your closest neighbours and coordinate and see if you can pull your resources and skills together. Keep as calm as you can so you can think clearly. Keep your family calm. Help others where you can. It's Simcha Torah, so don't give up

Seek Shelter: It's crucial to stay safe during rocket attacks. If you have access to a shelter or safe room in your apartment, stay there during attacks.
Emergency Supplies: Ensure you have some essential supplies in your shelter, such as water, non-perishable food, a flashlight, a first-aid kit, and any necessary medications.
Stay Informed: Keep a battery-powered radio or a smartphone with a backup charger to stay updated on the latest news and instructions from authorities.
Emergency Contacts: Make sure you have a list of emergency contacts readily available, including local authorities, family members, and friends.
Follow Local Guidance: Listen to instructions from local authorities and follow evacuation orders if necessary.
Stay Low: When seeking shelter during rocket attacks, stay low to the ground to reduce the risk of injury from shrapnel.
Power Outages: If there's a possibility of power outages, consider having a power bank or backup battery source for your phone and other essential devices.
Stay Calm: It's natural to feel scared during such events, but try to stay as calm as possible to make rational decisions.

If it's possible to get out buy at least Water Medical supplies, first aid kit, medicine A light source (candles, flashlight) Food
If it's the possibility that your area gets attacked, print or download some information you need, like maps ect. Get your documents ready, and get cash and fuel up a car if you have one, and put some extra fuel in Jerrycans. Also get something like a whistle just in case you get trapped under rubble, would be easier to get noticed with that sound.
Hopefully the conflict will stop sooner than later, but for now best of luck there

So I don't want to mock your situation as I feel pain for innocent jewish civilians but this is the chickens coming home to roost for the zionist government that has used the US to brutally slaughter innocent Arabs for decades now and oppressed the Palestinian people. I will pray for you.

Then, people could actually give you some tactical suggestions without getting bombarded by haters. That simply won't happen in this group.

Depending on how bad it is, get armed. Harden your shelter with wood, sand bags, rocks and steel plates. Store as much water and food. Don't go out, if you do don't stop moving. Don't follow people close, don't stop for traffic, don't stop for police without calling it in. But best not to go out.

Not confirmed, but one of the videos I saw was Hamas using a MANPAD. That means everything flying is at risk. I think that's why they closed the airports.

Jennysau@reddit
Any place where they're not bombing you???
muscels@reddit
Please go look at a map
Jennysau@reddit
what's your point? There are multiple possibilities on leaving. The coast may be the best option right now, but even some land borders can be better than staying in a warzone.
muscels@reddit
It's okay you don't have to know anything about the middle east or reading maps. Please go back to backlighting keyboards or whatever your hobbies are as indicated by your post history.
Mouth-Pastry@reddit
Wow, what an immature comment.
Jennysau@reddit
are you a prepper? Do you not have at least 3 options in mind as to how to GTFO if needed? What options would you have planned if you're in Israel?
Some Ukranians are fleeing the warzone trough Russia (and then onward). If your house is gone and half your family died in the shelling, you either stay to fight or you take your chances with whatever options are available.
OP is not born in Israel btw, might very well have a Belarusian passport.
Dredly@reddit
the land borders to... where? Syria is a war zone, Egypt hates Israel, the border between Israel and Lebanon is closed permanently with all traffic blocked, the West Bank isn't exactly safe
they could try going to Jordan... but I doubt that would go great. they aren't exactly friendly lately
muscels@reddit
She's not that smart
Rifleman80@reddit
I'm pretty sure there are plenty of options. Greece has been very friendly to both Israelis and Arabs, I'm sure they'd be welcomed there. Closest fairly solid Western nation to Israel, after Cyprus maybe.
Dredly@reddit
which requires flight, or a boat trip, they can't just get up and drive off and flocking to the airport is insanity. OP is clearly scared and for good reason, telling them to leave is going to do no good now

North_Win2444@reddit (OP)
Not sure my passport is vaild🤦♂️🤦♂️
Jennysau@reddit
I wonder if that matters in this situation... It's more practical issues like: do you have some form of transport, and is fuel available at all, are the borders closed and if they are how difficult is it to "walk around" them, and of course do you have any money to pay your way and setup in another country and can you even access that money (if it's in a local bank you might not be able to take much of it out).
yohomatey@reddit
Leaving Israel by land is not a great idea if you're in Israeli. None of their neighbors are exactly friendly to them and would not let in Israeli refugees. They barely tolerate Palestinian refugees. This is a classic bug in, not bug out.
Jennysau@reddit
OP is born in Belarus, might have a passport other than Israeli.
North_Win2444@reddit (OP)
Dont have any idea
fatcatleah@reddit
I read that the Airport is closed.....
Jennysau@reddit
I suppose the coast and some fishing boat if you wanna get out (and have the means)?
This is why part of our prepping is knowing the different options to get out and what they would cost and even having some connections (such as at small hobby airfield and in the shipping industry). I guess it's a bit late when the bombs are dropping already. Covid really thought us (personally) a lesson as our plan is always to just leave if we don't like it here, but they made that pretty difficult pretty fast. So now we have a few different exit plans prepared that should be available even when the borders are locked down. Personally I'm not willing to die for my country.

My friend, sending you our empathy from here. I have lived in Israel myself and this hits close to home. Here’s a todo list, very brief. -establish communication and plan with family and friends. Gather information. Don’t leave your place until told it’s safe. -collect and save water -charge all devices -get cash from ATM -fill up cars -secure home -get ready for a potential evacuation. Pack a few bags with essentials -collect important documents. Backup of all files, write important phone numbers -discuss with neighbors how you would defend your immediate surroundings if more incursions -buy non perishable food that requires little to no cooking. Batteries, flashlights. Matches. -if anybody has a medical condition, you should get extra prescriptions medicines -paper maps and download offline maps to phones -gas masks and items to seal a room -prepare for losing power, freeze water bottles in your fridge. As many as you can.
Stay strong. This too shall pass

yakubscientist@reddit
For sure, but I see a false narrative going around sympathizing with Israelis even though they are NOT the victims here- they’ve been instigating for decades. Anyone with a pulse on this topic could have seen this coming. It’s very predictable. I don’t think this thread should exist in this subreddit. It’s too political.
ryansdayoff@reddit
I agree for the most part. I think if Israel was a good stuard of Palestine and they invested in the area and worked harder to prevent tensions like this today would be much more harmonious.
I also see the current residents as Israel as victims of this as well.
I disagree about not helping someone who is asking for advice from a community that should have some knowledge about survival and loss of ROL. This random dude is just trying to save his family and I think this community could learn from the experience
Agnostalypse@reddit
I haven't read all the comments, but I see lots of people recommending water, food, etc. I think most of the basics have been covered, and would only add batteries and fuel if you have a vehicle or generator. Definitely limit how much flammable stuff you keep inside, but fuel for portable stoves is also a good thing to have. Bandages, first aid items, etc, may seem obvious but it's easy to forget when you are focusing on food, water, shelter. Lastly, I will be vague for several reasons, but self defense items are always better to have than not, even if it's just a nice heavy flashlight.
Nothing much to add other than good luck and G*d bless, I hope peace prevails as quickly as possible!
Canning1962@reddit
Sorry for the length of this post.
There isn't much else that can be added to what is already said and I wish all parties to find peace.
When this is over, do you think you all will remain in your area with the same household members? If so, this is when you will begin preparing for such an event again.
From that I would block any account that has put rude, mean or nasty comments in this thread. You don't need to deal with those people.
You will need to make a clear plan and all of your household will need to be on board with it and participate and comply. If they don't it will be very difficult. You will need to make new plans if they don't participate.
I won't ask where you live or anything like that. But others are saying to get out a map and use it in planning. They are right in that you need maps to determine how your plans will be laid out.
While you are working on that, consider the pros and cons of a food freeze dryer, dehydrator and home canners. You can also consider fermentation. For obvious reasons you won't want to rely on a freezer. Using one or all of these methods of food preservation is essential to any plan.
Personally, for your situation, I would go with a food dehydrator and freeze dryer because these will be the most versatile. Then you only need to think about water supply and how much you need to have comfortable reserves. Also you need to think about how you will secure your supplies.
There are many more things for you to think about when the time is right and this group has many well skilled people who can get you pointed in the right direction.

Look for a place to hide in your home. If your home should be invaded, they might think nobody's home. If your home is invaded, you won't have time to look for a hiding place right then, only a few moments to hurry to the predetermined hiding place. A trunk of clothes or big cabinets that you can treat as a crawlspace, something like that. Maybe even cut a hole inside the mattress on your bed. Do not hide in a closet or under the bed, that's too obvious. If you hear your windows or doors being broken in, run to the crawlspace and take a big kitchen knife with you. I am sorry this is happening to you.

Secure your location as much as possible. Arm everyone with training and tell them to keep their firearm(s) on them / within arm’s reach.
If the water is still running: fill as many containers as you can find with potable water. If the water is not running, save any water you have available, for example, from toilet tanks, or the pool (you can boil pool or fountain water). Keep it for drinking.
Secure canned goods or other non-perishable foods and fuel, for example, canned beans, protein bars, and propane.

You should buy as much as you can reasonably transport / store in the near term until you know how long your existing security situation is going to last — but enough to keep you and yours fed until the situation changes. More to reassure you and general curiosity. Totally fair if it feels unsafe to share, even a general area. I have friends in Tel Aviv. If you’re north/reasonably east of TLV rockets won’t be as much of a direct problem.
Follow local orders for safety, pack up a bag so you have it with a change of clothes, toiletries, some water, protein bars or similar, maybe a blanket and a book, and be ready to grab it and go to the shelter when you need. Maybe keep it with you while you’re out as well, just in case. (I mean like just half a backpack’s full, nothing crazy). Get some bottled water and additional non perishable food next grocery run. Dont panic. Its just another conflict, we israelis are pretty much used to it. I do agree that the scenario is somewhat different than the previous ones, but still. Its gonna be ok. Also, whare exactly in israel are you? If you are in tel aviv area stop thinking about yourself and try to help people that are in southern part of the country. Driving people to the central/ northern part of the country, maybe inviting a family from the south to stay at your place untill this shotstorm is over.

Maybe don’t subjugate people under an apartheid system in their own homeland when your ancestors colonized the land and you are propped up by evangelicals.

Propaganda for the people who can’t afford to pay attention to the situation attentively- Israel is the aggressor, always has been. Disgusting.
