So half a 392 , sorry it’s after 5 on Friday.

lol That's exactly what it is... half the engine casting with the same pistons, cam, etc.

They made a slant 4?!

Yes. It's literally one-half of a V8. Pontiac did the same thing. They called their engine the "Trophy 4."

Both their 152 and 196 were halved V8's... before the 196 was offered, the 152 had an option for a turbocharger. I haven't seen one of those in the wild yet.

Yea , built a few in the 80’s , god they were the worst rods to recondition… but a solid engine- like a 225 dodge , damn thing will run forever. Long rod , wide bearings , all you need for a good industrial.

It gets real shitty mileage, but at least it's slow. All jokes aside, I could climb a tree with it if I had traction.

Gotcha. I've got a brother in law up that way. Salmon fisherman out of Ft. Bragg.

How is it coming so far? I guess what the question is... Assuming it's up and running, how has the response and driveability been? Awesome rig BTW! I appreciate seeing the 196 retained 👍 Harvester motors will run til the end of time if they're well taken care of

It drives fantastic... I've widened the track 3" and installed adjustable shocks, swapped the 4 drum brakes for discs. I've replaced all the bushings and mounts with polyurethane. 30-odd lbs. of sound deadening and undercoating make a hell of a difference, too. Thanks for the compliment... it's been an absolute treasure to build & drive. I'm almost due for my 9k mile oil change.
