I thought this was strange as hell when I first saw someone do it, then I tried it myself, and it really enhanced the pizza flavor. Not too much salt, just a sprinkle with some crushed red pepper. It's bomb. Done knock it till you try it😊

Thats's definitely weird. I had a friend who was a bit of a salt addict and he used to put salt in his bacon sandwich. Anytime we went for food he'd go straight for the salt cellar and would get quite angry if you got to it first.

I own a pizza shop, we reduced to percentage of salt in our dough to 1% a few years ago as we realised that one pizza base contained around 4 g salt, combined with the sauce, cheese, anchovies/ olives and things the salt in one pizza was around your daily allowance of 6g., Some of the bigger chains can have +20g salt in a large pizza 🌊

No but I do sometimes put a little goose fat on it if it’s a pizza that’s going in the oven. Or I’ll heat it up until it’s melted and warm and add a little to whatever takeaway pizza it is if I can be arsed but it’s very rare I do that.

It's weird, but I know someone who puts loads of salt in/on their food. For whatever reason, they feel like they're not tasting the saltiness as much. They know it's a higher tolerance than most other people, so they put it on before even tasting it. Having said that, several sachets is a lot.

Chips and eggs are still the only food that always gets salt, for me. With a roast, it would depend on the gravy. Home made gravy probably would mean I salt the veg, but stock cube gravy is usually salty enough.

I don't salt my food period, but I wouldn't give it much if any thought if others did People have different palliates plus other factors (i.e. smoking)

Depends on the pizza, everything can lack seasoning. It's not a particularly typical or normal thing though. I think the current 'pizza hack' is honey on pepperoni pizza?

Pizza place near me has a salt mill, a pepper mill and a bottle of chili oil on your table. So I assume you're supposed to use it. A 'few sachets' sounds like overkill.

If I'm having a frozen pizza at home I'll generally add mixed herbs and a couple of grinds from the salt and chilli shaker, they make them quite bland. I'd expect better if in a restaurant.

If I am making my own pizza then I will add a pinch of salt to the tomato sauce but only if I am not using salty toppings like salami, chorizo or prosciutto. Tomatoes can benefit from a little salt.
