Who do you think is the most useless company?

This is as much of a rant as it is a question. Just queued up on Ticketmaster for 10 minutes to buy concert tickets. Joined the queue literally 1 minute after it opened. By the time I got to the front of the queue and selected my desired seating area, I was told that this seating area was sold out, and was offered terrible tickets right as the back of the venue. I then clicked “search again” to see if any better tickets were available, at which point the page froze, and I was sent back to the end of the queue. By the time I got to the front again, the event was sold out. Ticketmaster, imo, is the most completely useless company in existence. Their existence benefits nobody but themselves. They exist solely to make a profit whilst providing a quick and easy way for scalpers to buy infinite tickets, and making it almost impossible for real fans to buy tickets. Wouldn’t be so bad if they invested some of their multi-million pound profits back into their website to make it semi-useable, but of course they don’t. So firstly, fuck Ticketmaster, and secondly, which company in your opinion is completely useless, and is only there to make a profit for themselves?

There is a lot of bad you can say about Ticketmaster re: monopoly and fees but you can't say they're useless or provide no value to anyone. How else would concerts sell tickets? Only sell tickets in person and force everyone to queue at a given location? Or every venue implement their own online ticket selling system that is equipped to handle at times 10s of thousands of people trying to get access at the same time? How would they handle refunds? Card transactions? Scanning tickets on the door? Preventing fake tickets? I think you're underestimating all things Ticketmaster does so that venues and artists simply select a date/price and everything else is handled for them.

Very true, 85% of their profit comes from their travel division, airports, train stations, motorway services, and hospitals as that is the other place they can take the piss with prices, another captive audience

Count yourself lucky you could do this from the comfort of your home. In my day, we had to form a queue at a physical place, the "booking office", before it opened. Come rain or shine. Sometimes overnight, with garden chairs and/or sleeping bags.

In my city we have a firm outsourced by the council to do what environmental health/litter enforcement used to do. They're called 3GS and their goon squad work on commission when it comes to fines. So they only patrol a couple of lucrative spots like the train station and ignore the rest of the city where littering is a big problem. That'd be too much work.

They've emailed us recently sniffing around for contracts actually. I'll keep this in mind.

They're going to be serious legal hot water soon for harassing a lad with severe learning difficulties, so I'd recommend steering clear.

If you think this is bad, you’re doing well . . The I.T team where I work are beyond useless, you’ll be on hold for 40 mins and then they say not sure what the problem Is and if turn it off and on doesn’t work. . Speak to your line manager!!

There's a weird collection of "Marketing" type firms in London that you have never heard of there must be 1000's they don't seem to do anything or produce anything but they have mad parties all the time. It's either money laundering or something else.

If the criteria is "only there to make profit for themselves" then you're not really narrowing it down much, that's literally every company that's not a charity (and even then) or sporting/artistic endeavour. But yes, Ticketmaster are cunts. Anyway, John Lewis, stock everyone else's stuff at a higher price with a tagline of "we'll sell it more expensive unless you tell us about it, honest". Strange and pointless shop.
