Dell pricing on AMD servers, has to be an error right?

Howdy, I was looking at Dell's website for some 1U AMD servers and I noticed that the R6515 is about $2,529 and the R6615 with basically the same specs is $8,527. I know that their website/list pricing isn't real so I asked our account reps for a quote and can confirm the price is astronomical. All of the dell online prices are fake. You need to talk to a rep to actually get a real price.

Quick and dirty search shows the new processor price all by itself about $1900 to $2000. Thats the listed AMD EPYC 9124 .

Yup, this is a generational step up from DDR4 to DDR5, 3rd gen to 4th gen EPYC, and all the more expensive components that come with that.

Yeah the cost difference between SP4 and SP5 is about $400

I imagine so. The low end seems "fun" for the price, but the 6515 doesn't go as high on supported core count or memory. Granted even on the 6615 the memory doesn't really go all that high which is interesting(It'd be cool to see what people do with 128 cores and 256 gigs of ram in a 1U).

R6615 is the new gen, probably a lot less inventory available and they want to dump last gen.
