When I lived in Singapore, lot of what you can call middle class families had them and in Thailand too. They would come, keep the house clean, run to the market, cook , take care of kids drop off and pick up . They are treated as part of the family, given a decent salary and are a pillar of society. I feel like UK / modern western societies could really benefit from them, having most of the times two working parents that are struggling to keep on top of house chores, need to dash around to pick kids from school to drop them to piano lessons and are more often than not eating premade meal. Does such a role exist in the UK, what is it called? I've never seen it, maybe it does exist but it's a oreorgative of the top 1% richest families? Or do they not exist because we live in a regimented society, and a cleaner needs certain training and public insurance liability, a nanny will need a different training and public insurance etcetc?
